It's good to have you with us, zebramolli and AmeliaDebtFreelia. A very warm welcome to you both. biggrin.gif Have fun saving. You'll find your numbers at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.
Hi everyone, sorry I've not been here for a day or two, but not a good time for me, much better now though. :D

However i, with my eagle eyes, surveying the land at my feet spotted a crisp £5 abandoned in a carpark :j swooping down i claimed it has mine :) OH moans ' why can't i ever find money?' the answer to that is simple, you have to be on the look out for it!

I think the 'holding pot' idea is an excellent way to save, i potted everything 'spare' from my purse last week and then promptly needed £1 for DD, so had to break a note at the shop and buy something just to get some change!

That's brilliant news, AlTeREgO!!!! :j DH really should be taking better note though. ;) Good to see you too are getting benefits from the 'holding pot', it beats messing things up for us all. I do hope your DD's soon feeling much better, though you've obviously found a plus side! :D

Hi elizabunny, and there was I thinking it was me alone, it's sooo good to know they didn't make it solely for me!. :rotfl:

    *sneaks in*

    Can I come back?

I was number 159 many moons ago! And really need the savings!!

    Hello all xx

Hi again, Buffy!!! Of course you can come back - you never left and it really is so good to see you! You can save, but stick with us on the thread as it really does motivate us all far more. Can I just please ask you to pop your No on your siggy for me as it helps sparky when he's counting everyone and their savings on his spreadsheet, and for me in general. Great to see you, Buffy!

Hiya b_e_g! I think you're wise to put your savings aside until you need it, far better than it to gradually dribble away. I've done the same with mine but that's for our holiday in Scotland in June!!!

T'other day I was in Mr A when a man near me dropped all his change from his pocket! I had to restrain myself from rugby-tackling him as he picked it all up! He didn't leave me a single coin - yes i did go aver and look as soon as he'd gone :rotfl: Lucky OH wasn't with me he'd have been so embarrased!
    Rx

Rosy, please take control of yourself or you'll be getting just like jakes-mum....or worse!!! :rotfl:

You've got the idea, msgnomey, EVERY £2 HAS to be saved...no exclusions whatsoever! Must tell my DH that.

No problems, DreamerHelen, it makes perfect sense and is much better to hang on to it rather than have to drag it out again - not that you would as it's sealed - right??!!
Saturday i went to the cash machine and took out £50 for my works Christmas do. It gave me my card and my receipt but no money :( I checked my online banking and that said the money had come out too. Luckily when i called the bank this morning they said it will be back in my bank by Wednesday. However, i had all my drinks bought for me (i offered to buy back but i don't feel guilty since they're all on way more than me) so i'm tempted to pot the £50 when i get it back :) I also gave £5 to a homeless man because he was sat next to the cash machine and looked after me whilst i was trying to work out what to do. He promised me he was going to use it for a room for the night and i believed him (also he didn't show any drink or drug signs and was sat on a book).

Anyway... since i last posted my potted amount i have potted £12.49 :)

Oh Ruth, after such an awful dilemma for you, what a truly wonderful thing for you to do in return of that dear chap's kindness. :) So lovely! I hope you'll soon be completely reassured about your £50.

Oh very well done, skilly! I love your rationale there.

Hi again, JD, it really is good to see you back and all due to your savings and new laptop!! A great start to SPC 6 too!

All the very best with your new Target, unoriginal_uk, I've popped it on, now all the very best in achieving the Target AND especially your love nest!!

That was a lovely tale, sparky, I'll bet you'll make her day such a special one. A great piccy, though Ruth's right in that you need to put it on an external site first, directions are on the 1st post of the 1st page by JD. Good luck.

Such lovely words, Nessa, a pleasure to see. :A

  • LoL Of course Sue :o

Nothing to report here....I get paid tomorrow though so I might do a bit of shopping and have something to put in it then... :D
  • Morning all :D

Just back from the shops, I had to top up on deicer for those frosty early morning starts!
Recieved a £2 coin in my change, so have swiftly potted that after reading on an earlier post ~ That its the law around these parts :D

DD2 is back at school, but is getting an unexpected lift home, so have also potted £1 to cover what i would have gave her for bus fare.

6p roadkill outside the shop, the early bird really does catch the worm i guess :) and a bit of loose change makes a total potage of £3.40 this morning :money:

  • OMG I'm rubbish at this! I potted £2.50 on Monday & it came out last night to buy sandwich stuff for the bf!

On one hand it's good that I have no change as I've not been going out spending, but my pot is looking sad :( I think it's got one lonely pound lol

Got a few days/nights out coming up though so I'm sure to have a decent amount potted by Monday :)

Managed to pop some more small shiney coins in to the bottle last night and already have some small coppery ones for the work tin today - although I've not even started work yet today.

Getting quite excited to see what this years grand total is going to be!

  • Hi - I'd love to join in the challenge please :D

No target amount for me, but after reading the first page I'm determined to find as much road kill lying around as possible!

I plan on using the great tactic of seeing something I want in a shop, choosing not to buy it, then potting the money I would have spent - that's an excellent one for showing (or at least striving for) some restraint - and it might keep me off the cakes for a while!

Hello, welcome to all the newbies, it's good to have you with us :) You probably know this by now but please read post 1 on page 1 so you know what's what :) Then find a tin or something, seal it up and start chucking all your change in. Sue will give you a number shortly, and she'll ask you to put it in your signature to help sparky out - and there you are, job's a good'un :)

You've got it, AlTeREgO, all £2s are prisoners for sure! :j Good to hear your DD is better - AND - that you saved on the bus fare, far better in the pot. :)

Oh Emily, I'm so sorry to hear about the car, but at least you've already been saving so well, though that' a heck of a load of money to have to shelve out. Will it pay you to shop around?

It's ok, mcmanlyn, you CAN certainly do something to change that in the future; make them yourself and pocket what you'd normally have spent. Make more sense?

Hiya scuba, it won't be too much longer before we have a Grand Total, but folk really have been slower in declaring this year, sign of the times I s'pose.

I like that welcome, Rosy, and it's earned you another gold star! :staradmin I must admit, I too can think of another worse role model, LC 2!!! :rotfl:
Enjoy the rest of the day, folks, and keep right on saving.
