Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Crimson! I want her
We still havent let Georgie out as though he makes his contented noise when he sees us and will fleetingly allow us to stroke his tail through the bars he still runs away when we put our hand in the cage
I have had a few days of numb bum sat with my hand inside trying to get him used to me but hes still a bit nervous, not sure if im doing something wrong or if im just being impatient
Ummm talking about buying presents for pets, I may have spoilt him just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittlehe now has a swing, a mirror, 2 plastic perches, 2 balls with bells, a ring climber, a ladder . . . . and ive got my eye on one of those activity gyms for when we start taking him out
not that we're a bit obsessed with him or anything :rotfl:
My excuse is that its a big parrot cage so he needs stuff to make it a bit more homey :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £25/£10000 -
Jakes-Mum - Just be patient. As soon as i put my hand in Squash jumps on my finger and lets me stroke her and tries to dive down my top or up my sleeve hahaha. I bought her a cozy hut (you can make them so cheaply which i will do but i wanted one straight away) Its just a hollow triangular prism made of fur with plastic in the base (google it) and she slept in it all night and i had to tip her out this morning so she would come out for a stretch lol.
Find out what he likes to eat best and put some in your hand. Once he's eating from your hand move the treat a little further away so he has to step on to get at them, when he does say 'step-up'. Sunflower hearts are often a favourite but quite fattening so don't give many. Eventually you should be able to just say step-up and he will hop on without treats. I'm teaching Squash to come when called although when i get her anywhere near the door of her cage she just flies off again! lol. Already got her lying on her back so i can tickle her belly

Hello all
soz have been absent for a week or two, had a lot to do in the garden and helping out a couple of oldies near me. Anyway, been potting my £1 per day and had 6 x £2 coins for the owls head and £7.86 in shrapnel for the vw campervan.
Squash sounds kinda cute, my bro and me had a couple of budgies when we were small called pinkie and perkie (yes, I know that ages me somewhat!).
Hugs to those that need them and hope the process runs smoothly for you mossy.. fingers X'd.SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)

I have grown up with parrots. The Cockatoo (Charlie) screams almost all day and is often sent to the shed to calm down. The Macaw (Taffy) does a really annoying screech randomly for no reason that vibrates right through my brain and the others all whistle and talk and are just generally annoying when watching TV so i am used to the noise. Also, the Amazon (Ziggy) laughs when people are crying/upset...... I think i have a lot of patience for birds lol. My mum also breeds them. Squash was at my mums all yesterday so i am hoping her parrots don't start to mimic his noise and annoy my mum. They already take great delight in shouting the dog in my dads voice sending him crazy, making the noise of the front door opening so my dad goes to see who's walked in, the ones in the garden call my next door neighbour in his wife's voice..... used to cause a lot of arguments before they worked out what was happening.... I could go on all day lol. I'll shhh now thoughSealed Pot Challenge member #071 VSP #4

We decided to let him out the cage this afternoon as we've had him a fair few days and I really didnt think it was right to keep birds in their cages for too long, well first of all he wouldnt come out :rotfl:, then when he did he kept flying at the patio doors and finally realised that there was a barrier between him and the garden and finally had a bit of a fly round the livingroom.
I put Yutube on with some lovebirds talking and he was sat on the top of the door frame calling them :rotfl:, then flew and landed behind my chair trying to find them before hopping over the top and landing on my knee between the laptop table and the chair and just snuggled down listening to the video talk :T
DH was not impressed he came to me, I wouldnt touch him though as I worried he would spook and fly off again so just left him sat there and talked to himHe stayed for a good 10 mins before flying off again so not sure if that means he trusts me or if he was so interested in the birds talking he didnt realise how close he was too me :rotfl:. ANyway when we got him back in the cage I went over to sit next to him and he immediately started to make his contented noise so im hoping that means the trust is building (and I really want him to come to me first just to anny DH :shhh:)
To keep my post on a moneysaving theme so Sue doesnt tell me off when she gets back, a handful of schrapnel in the pot after taking DD and her friend to the shop to pick a cake for after dinnerSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £25/£10000
