Tax Codes

Hi jennifernil, his original employer have been pains in the backside to put it very nicely... we do have every payslip with coding and tax paid on them so could send them to HMRC today, but when speaking to HMRC yesterday they said we need his P60 they never mentioned anything about sending the pay slips.
After speaking to HMRC at the beginning of the month it all seemed so simple! now getting a bit complicated again. I`m sure it will get sorted eventually.
Do you happen to know when the P60`s are issued?
Thanks0 -
Should be after the end of the current tax year. If he doesn't get it by the end of April, get him to ask his current employer when he will get it.
As it sounds to me like he has no P45 that covers the money paid later, I would send copies of the payslips and a letter detailing all the payments received and tax deducted.
They may need original payslips, if so, keep copies yourself.0 -
Thank you.
When he gets P60 from current employers I will send a copy of the P45 we have, copies of all payslips from old employer and copy of P60 to HMRC and hopefully they can get everything up to date and issue a refund.
The P45 is upto September when he left old employer, but then they piddled about so much and lost paperwork etc this is why he was getting money due to him in June later in the year!!
Thanks everyone for your advice, I`ll let you know if gets the overpaid tax back from his current employer at the end of the month (we are hopeful as the employers pay office did say he would).0 -

HMRC won't accept copise of the P60 and P45s. Copy them for your own benefit but you need to send the originals.
Remember that he will only get a P60 from his current employer - they have until end of June to provide it.0 -
Hi jem16, when I spoke to HMRC on Monday the bloke said photocopies of P60 and P45 would be fine (I only have a copy of the P45 as this was handed into his new employer in October so can only photocopy this)
Thanks for the info about the P60, did hope this might be issued at the end of April but wasn`t sure how long they took to issue.0 -

That's a new one on me. It's always been originals.
The P45 I can understand as you've given it to the employer but P60 should be original.0 -
Thanks for the advice, don`t suppose it matters as long as I keep a decent copy of it.0

But P45 has 3 parts: one for you to keep, two to hand into new employer, one of which goes to HMRC. So you should always have your part of the P45. (Although I realise many people give all of it to the new employer: I've handed new employees back 'their' bit of the P45 enough times to realise not everyone reads what it says on the form!)Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hi
Yes we have the other parts of the P45, only gave in the one part to the newemployer. I just assumed it was the bit we handed in they wanted a copy of.
Thanks.0 -

You should only have one part - part 1a.
Parts 2 and 3 should have been given to the new employer.
What exactly have you got?0
