The figures are legible as they are but it's difficult to make sense of them, especially the P45 figures as they don't seem to match what has been paid in J!!!/2.
That P45 obvioulsy doesn't include some of what was paid from J!!!/2 but i can't figure out what to be honest.0 -
Hi jem16, the P45 was issued before some of the outstanding money was paid to him from 1st employer (they lost paperwork in respect of overtime worked etc) Its never agreed!
Shall I just send everything off and see what happens? (HMRC want P60`s, P45 and payslips with odd tax codes) this company have caused no end of problems every penny had to be chased. Will HMRC have details on their records of whats been paid?
Due to his current situation we think he might be best asking for tax code to be applied to all of the pension (at least we know that is guaranteed and will come in every month and apart from a slight yearly increase doesn`t change) then whats left can go against a wage if he is lucky enough to get another job.
Now for another daft question: When he gets another job how will they know what tax code to use, will HMRC sort this, will they send a letter or will he have have strange codings again? as you can see am getting so confused with all of this.
I really am grateful for your help and advice, thank you so much.0 -

I couldn't get it to agree with any of the payments so wasn't sure what to include or not include.
Did he get payslips for every payment made or did some of it only ever appear on the P45?Shall I just send everything off and see what happens? Probably best to do just that. The only problem with that is knowing if it's correct or not.Due to his current situation we think he might be best asking for tax code to be applied to all of the pension (at least we know that is guaranteed and will come in every month and apart from a slight yearly increase doesn`t change) then whats left can go against a wage if he is lucky enough to get another job.
Seems sensible at the moment. Now for another daft question: When he gets another job how will they know what tax code to use, will HMRC sort this, will they send a letter or will he have have strange codings again? as you can see am getting so confused with all of this.

If you had not intended unsplitting the allowance, i would have said to simply hand in the P45 when he gets a new job.
However if you do ask HMRC to no allocate his total allowance to his pension, then it would probably be best to complete a P46 on joining the new company and ticking the box to say he is in receipt of a pension. That should see code BR being used. After that you can see whether or not it's worth splitting the code again.0 -
So my tax code has gone up from 810L to 944L so i can earn an extra £1335 a year.
Tax rates haven't changed, and my monthly wage hasn't changed. I'm on £25000 per year. So WHY do i only take home an extra £27 a month?! Surely it should be £111?0 -
You can earn an extra £1335 a year BEFORE YOU PAY TAX. You will therefore save tax of 20% of £1335 or £267 per year. There would be small changes to NIC contributions also.0
-
You will not pay tax on another £1335 a year so £267 (1335x20%) in your pocket = £22.25 per month plus about £1.50 less NI.0

Thank you jem16 for taking the time to reply.
Like you we are baffled with the P60 but that company have really messed everything up. I`m going to send off the stuff with a letter asking for refund, and also breakdown of how this is calculated.
I`ll let you know.0
