Spreadsheet and front page updated :)

Hi, just when you have a second could you amend my target on the first post (192) as it's not the same as the spreadsheet now I've changed it to this year's cash ISA limit? Thanks :D

Hey everyone, well done with all your saving efforts so far. I feel like I barely belong here given how huge some of your savings are, but I can only draw the conclusion that I'm simply not paid enough! lol

I've only got a meagre £100 in the savings pot so far. I'm being cautious though as it's my first saving month and I've had to pay for my car insurance this month and I have my MOT coming up in 3 weeks time. However, providing we can let my dad's house when we've finished getting it ready, that should offer the option to increase my savings.

Fingers x'd there's still something left at the end of the month to add to the saving pot.

Twiggy (love the name!), I think it entirely depends. If you have a mortgage, bills and kids to feed then breaking even is probably one hell of a feat. If you have no bills, no kids and no rent or mortgage then it's significantly easier. I think considering you have car bills due, you've done really well.

Out of interest, roughly how much is car insurance? I'm looking into it and have come up with ~£1200 a year for a new driver. Please tell me it gets less ouch worthy..

    Save 10k in 201 = 4000/£10000

    Debt free by 2014 :)
  • Had a decent day at work yesterday, spent £100 of the earnings so will save the other £100. I have hit £2000 which is more than I need to in an average month to hit overall target of £20k!! Really happy!

I think the moral of the thread is, any money into savings is better than negative savings (i.e. debt). Every penny counts, be proud of what you have achieved rather than worrying about not managing what others can. killerpeaty is right, everyone's circumstances are different and you can only save to the best that your circumstances allow. I am as proud of myself for saving my (now) £50 so far this month as I am of YoungBusinessman for his overall goal of £20k :D
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76

Lolalemon - instead of leaving us could you not reduce your savings goal for the year . Good luck anyway what ever you decide.
I'm still going to stick around, for the insperation, but being realistic, I'm not going to save much this year (have reduced my target of £4000 to £1000 for me to work on for the year). But i am going to hit my debt hard this year, its not massive compaired to what others have shown on here - in total its abt £5000 not including the mortgage. I just dont earn much, pay my own childcare, its only me and my young son in the house, so i pay all the bills. Ive been joining in with teh frugal living challenge for a few years now, this year i am declaring all my spends to see what i actually spend and where. So next year i hope to be in a better possition to be able to properly save :)

LolaLemon this is really for a different thread but I am just hoping that you are claiming for and getting all the benefits you are entitled to. Just when you mention about childcare, you can get help with that :)
