Hi all
£200 added to ISA today so a grand total so far of £221. I've been looking at Sindy dolls on fleabay...not to buy I hasten to add. I'm still debating on selling my two Sindys. I could possibly get £50 odd for one of them but they are my babies. Oooooh decisions decisions!
You've just reminded me that I need to Ebay some stuff!2019 Wins

- I sold several things on ebay/Amazon which raised about 1/6 of the price
- I waited almost a week while I thought about it
- I got some extra work in, for which it will be useful (well, better and more convenient than its elderly predecessor which turns out to weigh 2.5kg, doesn't sound a lot but is a lot to lug about)
- I asked our IT oracle for advice and as a result, got one cheaper than I expected, and with a long guarantee
I hope you enjoy it Caroline, at least it was a rational decision and not an impulse buy. It's important, while saving, to remember we have to have a life as well. Doing something that gives long term pleasure, and which is affordable, is just as important as stashing the cash - you can't take it with you!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Dont feel bad about the laptop splurge, i am treating myself to one in November. Half a days overtime comes to net £100, so one half day a month = £1,000 return for not much work come November and i shall splash out. Stuck at £300, paid on Friday for first time this year, looking forward to it!:eek:Living frugally at 24

If budgeting for the rest of the month goes OK (!) I should have £455 to transfer to savings at the end of the month and £31 from TopCashback. It's even more important I reach my £7,000 target this year as I got engaged at Christmas (eek)Savings in 2012 £3545

I would love to join this challenge please.
This is the first year I could possibly contemplate saving ANYTHING so I would be over the moon to have £2000 in the bank by the end of the 2013. I cant remember when I have even had £200 as savings so although I am a long way off your targets, it is a mountain of a challenge to me.
I am in a similar situation in that I have NEVER had any savings before!! This is the year all of that changes, I have reigned in the spending and my new name is 'Thrifty' :rotfl:Regular saver £200 Saving for emergency fund (£2000)

Sold another thing just lying around my house the other night another £3 in my purse! I'm trying not to buy any magazines as they are my weakness!
It depends what you buy the magazines for, but Pinterest satisfies my magazine craving now! Lots of lovely clothes, decorating ideas and recipes. And frugal ideas too.Grocery Challenge (2 adults 2 kids)

Hi Kerri,
I'd have to disagree with you if it were about laser eye surgery... I'd get it done without thinking twice if my prescription were stable! It's a big immediate spend but it'd then stop all the little spends on Optician appointments, new glasses, contact lenses etc... Maybe save about £5k for some security, then save for the surgery, then carry on saving for the deposit?
I'm still torn - security comes before vanity, but in all likelihood I'll still have enough money if something bad happened even if I do spend £3k on braces... I'll keep thinking about it
Not sure what Orthodontic system you are going for but usually it happens in stages so most dentists will let you pay in stages if this helps your budget at all?
We use the Smile Line which is £2500.
Expensive but life changing for the clients who have this procedure.Regular saver £200 Saving for emergency fund (£2000)
