Also thinking of doing this, how does it work? Most of the others used to say you had to use their "switching service" to get the money and since I have wanted to switch over my bank account fully, just get another one, I've never gone through with it!
I just phoned them to open account, he offered the switch service, I only want to transfer over a couple dd though, he said I just tick the ones I want changed. They send you the list of dd to change. I'm also going to arrange the payment in myself. Has to be £1,500 a month to get the bonus. My plan is the £1,500 goes in I transfer it to the regular saver, the dd get paid and what's left goes somewhere else so it can gain more interest. So the money cycles round.
If the switch goes as easy as he said should be fine. If it goes how I want I'll gain well. He opened it then and there I just have to wait for all the paperwork to come.0 -

Sounds interesting, might give it a go, I wonder if you have to have a job to qualify though! No one seems to think full time mum classifies!Grocery Challenge 2019 YTD-£820.46/£7200(11%)

I've managed to open the first direct account hoping I can open the regular saver now as well. Also hoping that I can get the £125 bonus from it. thats a work in progress. Hopefully it means I get extra saved each month and a little nearer the target. I already save £500 so this will be a little more on top.
I did this too (only got a £100 bonus though) and it was all incredibly easy. I didn't have to do much at all, even though I've got a dozen direct debits. Also got an 8% savings for a year with them. I'd highly recommend 1st Direct so far (mind you, anyone has to be better than Santander!:D)Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Hello all
Wow, you'e all been busy! Well done everyone.
Not really got anything to add, except I've been settling into the 2 jobs and a bit cream-crackered. Did 2 16 hour days on the trot, and worked last night, spending all day yesterday catching up on household chores. A day off today, so it's nice to catch up! Thought I'd get a lie-in this morning, but Ddog sat on my head at 6am, as she's now used to going out early...
Will get paid weekly for day job, and monthly for night job, and signed off the 'Dole' or DWP as it's now known with great joy.
So, I will update my signature as I get paid. So far, sticking to living on OH wage and saving mine. Can't wait...
So, folks, keeeeeeppppp saaaaavvvvvvvvvvvvvving!
Best wishes

Hello all,
I think I have posted all of once so far, but I have been lurking (work and socialising).
Well done for the job BBB : ) How are the two time tables fitting together?
Good luck at reaching 12k youngbusinessman, I am expecting to see it by 3 weeks time. Haha.
So, I have applied to open an ISA (60 day advanced warning one so that the temptation to spend is not so high) and sent a cheque for £1000 to start off with. I haven't heard back yet, so I don't know if I should count it. Last month I earnt an additional £110, hoping this month I will do better but at the rate I'm going ... :rotfl:
Payday is in 12 days time, will put another £500 in minimum. I've been in my job for about 6 or 7 weeks now so my saving has had a big bump from the first payday. I have been ill for 5 weeks as well, it's just virus after virus in this job! I work in an office!
Good luck with the savings everyone.0 -
Killerpeaty, i wish i could work wonders and even make it in 3 months, nevermind 3 weeks! I am going for £10k by end of June so the 12 should be the month after, July would be a fair achievement even if i say so myself!:eek:Living frugally at 24

Sorry business man, shouldn't be cheeky. My target is only £5k for the whole year so your target is truly.. scary for me.
You're saving for business reasons right? I'm saving to try to start an investment portfolio, I'm 22 so I'm going for slightly riskier long term investments first and then diversifying. I have no debts (unless you count student loans), have a decent/in demand degree and have a keen interest in finance so I am hopeful that I will achieve my goals.0
