    Hey can I join?

I'm aiming to save £5,000 by the 31st December 2013 I think that's pretty reachable for me. I did originally plan more but that would mean no life for 2013! It's to put towards a deposit for a house.

I'm getting myself out of debt first which should be the end of this month as long as no other emergencies come up!! Had the car and cat in December and January so fingers crossed no more!!

I've effectively saved £100 so far (not touched incentive from opening Halifax!!) and that should still be there at the end of Feb as long as i've budgeted right. I've quite a few things going on in Feb though so it's a bit touch and go.

Good luck to everyone for whatever you are saving for.

I've not been doing much to increase my savings for the last few days. Going back to work and college has floored me completely, my ultimate aim is to become a solicitor so I better start getting used to pressure.

I'm working on being accepted onto a leadership course at work as I can see it being beneficial to a Uni application but hopefully after next week I can really knuckle down.

Worked out that if my aim is £5000 by December 31st 2013 then I need to save £417 a month (well £416.666666 but what is a few pennies between friends?) I'm currently sitting on £329.85 so I only need £87.15 to meet my target. Only £5.13 a day, sounds reasonable.

Sorted my accounts out at last so managed to add a bit saved from last year and hopefully will be able to top it up some more end of the month! Bigger credit card bills to pay this month from Xmas so should be more on target over next couple of months!

Oh, can I join please! I'm aiming for £6000 though. That will bring my savings at the end of the year to £10,000, as I have £4000 saved already!

£500 a month doesn't seem that bad, but lets do it.

    Take home pay - 1500

    Rent -125
    Car insurance -175
    Phone bill - 60
    Gym - 40

Which leaves me 1100. I spend about 200 on myself/girlfriend, 100 socialising and 200 on petrol.

So I have 100 to spare plus any overtime I get paid for. Hmmmm this could be interesting. Lets do it
    House deposit £2800/£10000
    :j£7200 in 24 months = £300 a month:j

Hi there, First post on a fantastic-looking thread. Great to see so many positive ideas about savings.
I'm aiming for the 12k by December and have just applied to open a 60-day notice ISA - first target is to see how much I can get into the ISA before the end of the tax year. Just received some interest from savings last year so that'll be a start. My other half has got a temporary job until August - so we'll try and save a bit of spare cash now in case money's a bit tighter later in the year.

    Good luck everyone!

Hi, please can I join? This will be tough going for me but I loooove seeing my savings go up and I'm determined. Am working on reducing my outgoings and boosting my income so hopefully it's not going to be as unrealistic as my DH has just told me it will be :rotfl:

Sold another thing just lying around my house the other night another £3 in my purse! I'm trying not to buy any magazines as they are my weakness!

Now have the regular saver opened with first direct. Looking forward to the 8% interest on that one! It means I have added £300 to my saving target this month. Hoping to keep this up, I'm sure I won't!
