I'm a stay at home mum so happy to earn a little bit here and there, I do it while watching tv and little one is asleep so a couple of mins a day is no problem for me! :)
Could probably walk to the shops and back and find 7p on the floor during that journey.

Can't walk to the shops if my little one is asleep! Besides it isn't 7p for spending all day doing it, it is 10p to 20p for about 3 mins survey! Not arguing the point any more as I''ve got £40 claimed from it for my savings this year, totally happy about that and I''ll keep going for next year! :p

DOH! I've just rethought this through and I am assuming you are in the same position as I and do not currently have an ISA. However I guess you already do and have maxed it so far this year.

You would be correct, I have already maxed my ISA for 2012/3. I am very proud of myself for sticking to a savings plan .......:D:D

Fingers crossed for you BBB xx

    Thank you nat21luv

Just had to share - I was offered the job after interview. That's never happened to me before!

Feel shocked. Just want to do my best for it, turns out it may only be until May/June covering maternity leave.

But I am thinking positive: I get extra experience/work to add to CV, money to save towards my goal, and chance to meet new people, learn new skills.... And who knows, maybe the new mum will decide she'd like to spend more time with her little one, and I could be made permanent?

:j Sorry, had to add a bouncing smiley, because I can't run round home on my own & jump about, freaks the dog out....

    Happy, happy, happy

  • Well done BBB, great news!

I've made my first sales of the year today on eBay, long may it continue!

Just need to keep the momentum going now, have dug out a few more things to sell, just waiting for the next free fees weekend.

Been a very frugal January so far but mainly because I've been poorly so didn't leave the house all weekend and been off work the last 2 days so that makes 4 no spend days..... And because I've been living on tea and toast for the past 4 days most of the Christmas bulge has gone.......result! ;)

    Hi Bessiebooboo!
OK so you have made me break one of my NY Resolutions - not to spend hours on MSE...have already told myself that I need to be more efficient with my time. With the time saved I was going to spend more time cleaning the house, research ways to lose weight later in the year without leaving the sofa(!) sorting out interesting (local) places here in British Columbia to take the children to at weekends, handcraft baby clothes to save money etc etc. I had made the decision to give one update per month on any savings I had made...and just eight days into the year I find myself logging in twice a day, just to see if you had had job success - hurrah - it is good news...so glad for you Hon. You must really have impressed them at the interview! This forum is so addictive! :rotfl:
Well moneysaving things I have done...hmm let's see. Well I have had quite a few no spend days, but that is because I had a c-section two weeks ago and am relying on DH to drive me round. I have a bag full of washable nappies, but am still using the Huggies as the baby is too small to wear the other kind yet and it is very rainy here at the moment, so I can't dry things at the mo...well that is my excuse and I am sticking to it - ha ha. The bfeeding is going well and he is finally gaining weight, so I am saving on v expensive formula costs and nearly all of his clothes have been passed on from friends. Canada is just switching over to Chip and Pin, so the cashpoint rejected my debit card as soon as 2013 rolled in, so I was unable to get any dollars out. Doesn't Life get v boring without any money!
I am very interested in some of the ideas put out there for raising more funds. Unfortunately I haven't come across any surveys that pay cash over here - I think they offer Starbucks vouchers etc instead. One friend suggested that I try and make money from my real passion - knitting, but as I have a big family, I am always trying to keep up with scarves, hats etc to get them through the cold winters here. Also I am a slow knitter!
My life is not interesting enough for me to write about in a blog (anyone want to know how many nappy changes I did overnight?! :D) but I have managed to do some reading up about making my money work harder for me. Am looking at dividend paying shares at the moment, but my money is so hard earned, I do not want to have any risk involved at all... I really want to take as much of my Mat Leave as possible; I am not in any rush to get back to full-time work at the hospital. Must find ways to save money <sigh>
    Have a good week y'all x
