After 4 years of paying off debt, I'm now looking to get into the savings habit.
Can I join please and I'll go for the full £12k.
It'll be a slow start to the year but I'm confident I'll be able to pick it up from Spring onwards.

Things that possibly may get in the way during 2013/things to spend the money on: braces (EEK!), another big adventure, possibly a deposit for a flat (YAY!)
These helpful posts made me think about (1) how important it is to know the areas where you are over-spending and how that knowledge can lead to setting mini-goals (such as, limit eating out to x times a month, source more economical skin care, etc, etc) that can be key to saving. I'm going to give some thought to what my mini-goals can be for the new year.
(2) That it can be really encouraging to have a savings purpose in mind from the outset. I think mine was too vague at the outset of the 2012 challenge ( I had in mind that I would roll the money over into long-term savings). But I think it will help me to shape my goal up into something more specific. I'll have to give this some thought too.Kittenkirst wrote: »I failed on this years quest, but that means I will try harder :-)0 -
Ill join in ... 7K I reckon for this year, see how I manage with this target, though it might end up being pushed against mortgage instead, either way either 7K saved or reduce mortgage by an additional 7K0

I don't think I'll hit it but I'll give the full amount a shot.
Probably closer to try hit £10,000, but put me in on £12,000 and we'll see how it goes.0 -

Count me in please! I think 5k will be a realistic target, though it would be nice to exceed it.
I'm a savings newbie; I've no debt, but as a single parent I need to get myself in gear and get some money behind me.0 -

Put me down for £20k.
Don't be surprised if i spend it all, i'm saving to buy a building site and theres lots of reall cheap ones in auctions at the moment, we have £10k savings now (well not really we lent the inlaws £4k but we will have in the new years) so once we have £20k (think easter time) we will start looking at auctions and local sites properly.
Wowza, good on you if you save £1,666 a month! :TGet to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
