Sign me up as well. This last year I've been putting £300 per month into a first direct regular saver at 8% and £250 per month into a Norwich & Peterborough gold saver at 5%. So that's £6600 plus around £170 in interest.

I'm gonna aim for the same this year, but I'll have to find another home for the £250 as I can't have another gold saver with N&P :(

    Hi Everyone
I would like to join. I aim to save at least £2000 next year. I've tried before and had a bit of success but never hit my target. Having no job in 2013 may help me to focus. Good luck to everyone.
    Merle :)
  • I failed on this years quest, but that means I will try harder :-)
Can i be popped down for £9k? Thanks
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
  • Could I be added to this thread. I'm saving to get the boiler replaced and the sitting/dining room redone perhaps a log burning stove so need at least £5000. I'm aiming for next autumn so that could be a realistic target...just need to stay out the shops!!

    Hello everyone,

I saved 70% of my 2012 target of £6k - mostly due to a big trip away and saving what's left at the end of the month rather than actively being frugal.

So, Slowlyfading could you please add me to the challenge with the same target of £6k? I'll try to be good this year!

The areas I lose money are: big holidays, buying food that I don't eat (mostly meat) and expensive drinks like Pepsi Max, eating out a lot, shopping, very very expensive skin care items, beauty treatments and spas, the list goes on...

Things that possibly may get in the way during 2013/things to spend the money on: braces (EEK!), another big adventure, possibly a deposit for a flat (YAY!)

    Hey slowly

Count me in, but I am going to be a bit strange (as always!) I have still 1600 to pay off one last debt and my car owing (3675), still the last debt will be paid in january (car service willing!). and the car will just keep being paid off slowly.

BUT I have a wedding to save for this year! EEK!!! so my aim is to save 3.5k by september 2013. +4k Dec 2013

(hope you dont mind i have bent your rules out of shape LOL!) till jan i would have never saved in my life! so this should be interesting!

Edit - I already opened my wedding saving account which has £1 in it.... so only 3,499 to go ! :)

SO just to sum up because I realise I make no sense

this challenge will be 4k in 2013
as I have to save 3.5k by sept for wedding
    pay off debt 1.6k
pay off 2.4k for my car
and for once pay my insurance and service of car in cash! (ARGHHH!!!)

if you dont mind slowlyfading, can I keep my totals in here as there arent threads for my other goals really??

In good news, just added up my eBay earnings from 2012 - £253 - not too shabby!
    6k in 2012: £4200.00/£6000.00
    6k in 2013: £8209.62/£6000.00
    7k in 2014: £5900/£7000
  • just wanted also to quickly add some ideas in the pot

I am going to swtich my bank account to first direct and bag that join up fee - wooo free £100 thank you very much!

I am not going to go into my OD! (costs me £50 a year)

I have just done a energy swtich and they are going to pay me £15 for each switch which will come 15 weeks after switch or some other long period of time - so that is £30 right there at some point in feb

I am going to pay my car tax for a year rather than in 6 month bits (saving £5) *hahah every little counts

I am going to not throw anything away and instead at least try list it first in ebay... if it doesnt sell then i can either throw or give to charity

I am going to find ways of offering my skills for money, I am an office manager for a living and help companies reduce their costs, want to stay with current company but i cant get thier costs down any lower.. surely there are other companies who dont want to hire a person but would want my advice on a success rate pay basis???

  • I may be a bit premature, but have received a statement through the post.

I have an account 'mature' and the interest paid on the 1st January will be £140.70.

Also could someone tell me how to make my sig show up under my posts please?
