Thanks canucksfan and stupotstu for the encouragement you've both twisted my arm. I'll stay and try my hardest even if I only save a few hundred, at least it's better then nothing...
...Ill keep plodding along, hopefully I'll get £500 before Xmas. If not, at least I tried
So glad you are staying Saver88. It doesn't matter if you save £5 or £5000, the point is that you have saved. I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to "only" save a few hundred. Just give it your best and whatever you end up with is greatDon't be put off by some of the huge amounts on here. It will be a few years before I can start thinking of saving £12k in a year! That's one of the things I love about coming here, I don't feel judged because my savings are smaller than others. Everyone's amounts, no matter how big or small, are important.
Well done on reaching 25% natMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Very well said girlatplay. It really does not matter how much is saved, as long as there is an intention and action to save.
Saver88, just remember you are doing the most important job of all, raising your children. If you manage to save something, no matter how small, then you are a winner!
I have said before on this forum, the heroes on here are the unemployed, stay-at-home-mums, students etc. who actively make an effort to save despite their drawbacks. After finishing paying off debt two months ago we're now back on track. Went from having saved £1500 to now having saved £5000. :j0

Aww thank you both for the lovely words and advice girlatplay and susannecape I must admit it is a bit disheartening when you see your savings go down but as you've both said, at least I've still got some. You've both give me the encouragement and kick up the bum I needed
The unexpected bill is coming out tomorrow so my savings are down to £270. My daughters 1st birthday at the end of the month so will have to spend some pennies but will hopefully (fingers crossed) have £100 to put back in.
It's so lovely with all the encouragement everyone gives one another. It truelly makes a difference to spur me on. And great to hear individual stories of how your saving your big, or small amounts. :T"sealed pot challenge" member 082 6-£450 7 £860 banked :staradmin :staradmin

Savings have taken a hit with all the baby purchases
I have had to apply for a student loan for next year (need to apply for max amount £6500) in order to qualify for childcare funding through the college) Childcare for 2 kiddies for 10 months would cost me at least £90 a day so even with interest the loan is a no brainer however I want to invest it wisely so that I make a return on it. I'm in Scotland so it will be paid monthly rather than in 3 installments. I was thinking an ISA but I also want access in case its needed.
I realise that between now and August/September things may change but would it be worth ISA'ing half then putting the other half in a normal savings account for easy access then bumping any surplus over before 5th April?
Its also going to be at least 5 years before I hit the repayment threshold. Part time hours mean that I only make around £9000 annually.

So April .... not too good on paper with only £11.87 used to open new ISA for 2013-14.
I've made the switch from cigarettes to e-smokes this month so overspent during the transition unfortunately hence not much saved.
Long run should mean £80 a month not £270 on fags.
Next couple of paydays will be light saving too as I'm now concentrating on clearing the last £1750 of Overdrafts which will then leave me totally debt free.
Do not think I'll get anywhere close to £13k this year, more like £6K if I'm lucky but hey .... I've NEVER had savings, let alone £6K of savings.
Next to haggle some of my monthly bills down. Thanks to all on here for giving me ideas and inspiration to save.0 -
Have added £145 to savings so far this month which takes me over the £2000 mark - just. Pleased with where I am at the moment.
Keep saving everyone and good luck.

I've passed halfway (6000)!
Added £1100 to my savings today, which takes May's total so far to £1400.2021 MFW #35: £6000/£60000 -

Well done! I don't know what e smokes are but if they are a step towards quitting then well done!
