Phil, what happened to your agreement not to be on here more than half an hour a day so you got some revision done?Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

I accept there are technologies around most of my problems. I know I will manage alright on my own I am sure.
I am getting to the point where I want to break away from my parents, but give they are very over protective of me they won't like it. But I think they much surely accept at some level that one day I will naturally need my own life away from them.:beer:0 -

I am getting aound to revision soon.:beer:0 -
For goodness sake phil ... Arghhh! You say you can't do this and you can't do that. Since I lost the use of my right arm I have found ways of doing things one handed, I live alone and manage very well on my own. I peel veg one handed it just takes longer having to balance and peel it one handed, however I do have an electric potato peeler which is fantastic. There are many gadgets out there and if not you find a way of doing things. I can cook a meal and also bake cakes, the fact that I have a disability doesn't stop me!
I have an adapted car - you said that you can drive, is it adapted? If you can drive that is a bonus for you to get to a place of work, and you say you have difficulty walking ... do you have a blue badge?
As for clothes, I buy clothes that I know I can fasten one handed, I don't buy any shoes with laces because I can't lace up, although if I put my mind to it I'm sure there is a way of tying laces one handed!
I sometimes use my feet to do things, there are a lot of things I thought I couldn't do but very often there are ways and although at first it can be frustrating and time consuming but you can achieve things you never thought you could. Obviously there will be things that ok I can't do but for that I just ask someone for help!
You seem to give up on yourself before even trying phil, unless you change your attitude you will not move on and do anything.0 -

And if you found a job that you really wanted that meant moving away, you have the perfect excuse. Surely they would be happy for you? It is fairly common for graduates to move away for work, so it's not like they would think it unusual.
I think it would do you a lot of good0 -

I never said there was not was around my problems.
I suppose living at home needs I have no need to find ways around them as I have help.
I know people like yourself do wonderful things to overcome problems.
I am certain I can live away from my parents and be happy and I am going to work towards making that a reality.
I do not have a blue badge, but I agree driving has given me a lot of freedom.:beer:0 -

Get a blue badge and make a claim for DLA, it all helps - I didn't make a claim for years but I'm glad I did. If you have any difficulties you can get to see an occupational therapist through your GP - they can help you get over any difficulties you have.
You said you were independant yet you say your parents look after you, do everything for you - your laundry, cooking etc etc. It's up to you to make changes phil no one else. You say your parents wouldn't like it if you did this or that - you are an adult, you tell your parents how things are going to be and whatever they say you carry out what you said you were going to do, they will come round and accept it and more importantly respect you for it.0 -
I have done a lot to keep my paents happy. Like gone to university local and not moved away from home, avoid going out too much to the pub and that as they won't like it, avoiding having girlfriends because my Mum won't like it.
I think I am due to live my own life a bit now. It does not mean I love my parents any the less because I would really like to live on my own and it would be great to have silly things like my own front room to watch what I want on the tv.:beer:0
