Strange, it works if I do it in the Quick Reply part, but not in full reply, thanks!

"Failure to respond to this notice may lead to civil legal action being taken..."

The magic word is 'may'. They use that because they have no intention of taking legal action (they'd lose, and what's more, they know it), but still want to convey to you the possibility that they might actually do it, because they stand more chance of you folding and paying up - that's their only realistic objective here.

I have received one of these 'Parking fines' this morning after parking in my local Asda car park!
After reading up on TCP I am choosing to ignore the letter and any future correspondence from them.

Good! And please complain to Asda, in writing.

The more complaints about this protection racket the better - one of the big Supermarkets will break ranks in the end I am sure.

Although, as an ASDA shopper - I applaud that they are doing something to discourage not shoppers from filling the car park, provided for me and others to do our weekly shop.

The reasons why the CP was used for non-ASDA shopping is irrelevant, blame the council for not offering enough spaces, but why anyone would think a supermarket 'wouldn't mind' to this type of (mis)use is mistaken. The issue of the invoice or its enforceability is a different issue - but what sanction would you suggest to discourage inappropriate parkers who spoil it for the rest?

There are no sanctions as these invoices are not enforceable, clamping is now banned in GB. The majority of car parks have no abuse at all, people shop and they take as long as they take. The tiny minority who abuse car parks know its a scam, a lot of parking operators don't even give them invoices as they know its a waste of time.

The solution to having parking spaces for shoppers at their store is a simple one, have a barrier that is manned, show a receipt and you left out, no receipt and charge £1-£2 for exit. It works Safeway had it for years near me. It's about retailers taking responsibility for their parking spaces instead of having scammers trying to fleece their customers.

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Have a barrier and a minimum spend policy for free parking. Then these so called rogue parkers become a captive audience of customers who will have to spend, say, a tenner and may just like the store enough to return and buy their weekly shop regularly!

What's not to like about gaining a whole load of potential new customers already within spitting distance of the front door? Invite them in to spend some money rather than threaten them with a fake fine from a third party scammer which will put many off for life.

RANDOM IDEA, BASED ON MY USERNAME AND PAST LIFE AS AN EXTREME COUPONER:

How about they put a coupon on the car windscreens instead of fake PCNs? '£5 off a £35 spend next time you visit' would entice many back.

On from where coupon left off, if there was a matter of choice one or the other, where would a retailer prefer to have circa £60, in their tills or in the pockets of a third party company that threatens their good name ? When people get these invoices it's not so much the parking company but the tesco, asda, morrisons, McDonald's , Currys, PC world or Argos and so on that the motorists think have given them a penalty charge. So after spending hundreds or thousands in a shop they come out to see the scammers have slapped an invoice there. Or one is in the post a few days later.

  • Hello everyone I'm new to this forum. I have received a similar
penalty notice from T&C parking for staying longer than their so
called permitted time. I parked at Asda in Shaw didn't notice
any signs warning me of these charges (have never parked at a
Asda before that has them) Went into the village then returned
to Asda did my weekly shop and even had a coffee in their cafe.
I am going to ignore their letters but is it worth complaining to
Asda themselves as I don't want to give them any information they
could pass on to T&C parking. I'd be grateful for some assistance .
