I've just recently washed a few of mine - one that I've used day in day out for over a year, and another that I discovered had pen marks on - no idea how that happened as it's never been used, so must have been like that when I bought it - anyway - bit of a scrub with washing up liquid and soak in vanish for 20 mins or so then a 30 degree wash - they come up lovely :j
(NOT the lacquer ones though - they are not washable!)0 -

I think it's a lovely colour but then I'm into blues and purples. We're all different, aren't we?!

no, not at allI just prefer pinks to blues - always have
actually think it's the Delphine I don't like, it doesn't sit well against me, it's almost too long, a square shape would be better :0Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -

Think I'm with you - tend to gravitate towards all shades pink. Not too sure about that floral print either - have the purse from the Duo.

Need a bit of advice please ladies. I've bought a Kipling bag from an ebay seller. It was listed as new without tags, but when it arrived there were some small brown marks inside. I've washed the bag and it's cleaned up nicely but I'm not sure how I feel about having a bag which is used. Don't want to sound like a terrible snob, but I suppose I am
There are lots of things I don't mind having second hand but I'm not comfotable with things like clothes or bags.
I've contacted the seller who has been lovely and said she thought it was unused but is selling for a friend. She's offered a refund if I return it or a partial refund if I want to keep it. I haven't told her yet that I'd washed it as I did that while I was waiting for her reply. She may not want to accept it back at all now that I've washed it.
I don't know what to do. It's a retired colour so I can't get it anywhere else. It looks fine now that it's been washed but I've still got this nagging doubt because I suspect it's been used (and I'm wondering what could have caused the brown marks).
So the question is, should I be bothered about a used bag, or am I just being too picky? How do the rest of you feel about buying used bags?0 -

The bods on the ebay board may be more helpful.
You ought to have waited to resolve the issue with the seller before you washed it, as now it is no-longer in the condition you bought it in.
I think you should just accept a partial refund, then if you dont want it, consider selling it on (obviously mentionining in your listing that it's been washed).0 -
Snap - I can't use a 'used' bag.
Like you, I've been caught out. The bus ticket in pocket, grubby handle, stain across the back etc
I do complain & send photos, partial refunds I have accepted too.
But I have returned some ghastly ones.
Are these people blind when they list items as new?
The kept ones I tend to sell them on, after giving them a good wash & an honest descriptionOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...

I'm not concerned about the ebay 'points of law' if you see what I mean. The seller has been nice about it and if I do decide I want to return it I would of course tell her I've washed it and see how she feels about that.
My main concern was whether I'm being too picky about a used bag, and wanted to know what other 'bag ladies' think about this, not what ebay people think about the etiquette of returns etc. If you see what I mean, I want opinions from bag people not ebay people!
The only reason I washed it so quickly was because I was (perhaps naively) convinced she would reply and assure me it was unused and she had no idea about the marks, or maybe say it had just been tested out but not properly used. I think I would have been ok about that, but now she's said she's selling for a freind and she just 'thought' it was unused makes me wonder how used it is (or isn't).0 -
Well, it's all a matter of preference. For bags it wouldn't bother me if it was used, especially if I had then washed it.
Clothes I'm a bit more funny about though.
However, my point about it being washed before resolving the issue is an important one, as a seller shouldn't have to accept a return of an item that is no longer in the same condition as it was sold in (I know kipling bags are supposed to wash well, but it will have altered the bag). This is why I think your only option is to keep it & accept a partial refund.0
