This is absolutely not the case and I was not rejected first time round and got placed in the Support Group - i am not terminal.
My OH acts as my representative - we signed a form and he does all the talking as like you I am phone phobic - making and receiving calls. It does seem like the usual process though so is not just singling you out. The Benefits and Work website has loads of good resources but I have been on ESA for 4 years now so if you need any help then please PM me xx
It is very good of you to offer to help, however, I have been on ESA since the early part of this year. This was after struggling with alternate work duties from home for over 12 months before I had no fight left in me to start an employment tribunal with my former employer - so there was nothing left of me to give to the ESA form when I got it and the first one expired before I even completed half of the form, it was like a foreign language to me despite being very capable in my former existence ...being on my own I had no OH/DH to help me with the form, field the phone calls or accompany me to DWP interviews -which is what is needed to succeed since the assessment approval criteria were tightened up.
I went to Citizens Advice Bureau first because I was struggling with the form on the first date deadline, they could only give me general info on the process, but told me of the advocacy service through the GP - I think if I had just sent my form off on my own with all the crossings out and ramblings I would never had got anywhere, and certainly wouldn't have put myself through an appeal.
Because my advocate could get across on paper what I could not, I also went through the process without being rejected. There was no cost to me, and I was very very grateful for the support.
Because it seems like each NHS trust has different facilities and funding objectives, I would recommend anyone searching for help to speak to the local Citizens Advice as they will know what local resources are available and more importantly how successful they are.
It was indicated to me that the processing teams for benefits are allegedly "targeted" on keeping a low "approval" rate on the first time /new applications they process as part of job description, so having a third party involved whether it is a partner/carer/family member or independent advocate, definitely is recommended.
Good luck for LW and anyone else undertaking this journey.:)The cold never bothered me anyway0 -

I dont think it helps anyone to scare monger. I have known LW a long time and we have similar issues in common which we have discussed and I know that LW has been dreading that brown envelope through the door. I have had a relatively positive experience with DWP - although I did have to appeal my award earlier this year.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning! All dressed and fed, and wm going with load 1 of 2. Tots told to tidy up after I found shreddies all over the trampoline...
It's chilly today, so we all have thermal vests on. Going swimming later. Will do my kitchen dailies shortly and empty DW, then make a start on downstairs loo. It needs it as DS went in last night and didn't switch the light on  you can imagine the mess... I did give him a dettol wipe to mop up but it will need a proper mum cleanBossymoo

Morning Flyfriends
OH has man flu this morning, so I have dived in and helped him with todays jobs. Between us the bathroom and toilet are sparkling and so we shall leave it there for today. The WM has now done 2 loads and as its such a lovely sunny morning it is all out on the line. OH is now tucked up on the sofa with a blankie and I am settling into my workroom to do some sewing, I must then crack on with some Christmas cards (special family ones).
I'm sorry to hear of your teething problems Piggers teeth are nothing but trouble. They hurt when they come, they cost a fortune while you've got them and then they fall out:rotfl:
Lamewolf have a big cyber hug. I have just gone through the ESA farce and its really not as bad as it sounds. I photocopied a page from a dictionary with the word degenerate/degenerative on it as they kept on asking me if I was getting any better:rotfl: There are plenty of people to help you with this and most will visit you at home. ie Age UK if you are over 55.
Well have a good day everyone and stay safe, the flooding here is finally receding but it is now very frosty/icy which is bringing new challenges. xx0 -
Paid stuffed all done now, shame the unpaid stuff isn't!
Had a cuppa after buying milk on the way home (oh and a couple of breakaway bars - I love them and nobody else does!)
Done what I can with my governor paperwork for the minute, awaiting some replies so I'm going to town now for a couple of hours and then I'll try to finish them before going to school for a meeting later.
Flying - washing on the maiden and DW on.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
