You can go into the settings and monetise your vids with adsense style ads. however to get the video style ads i think you have to either apply or be invited? also make sure your vids have no copyrighted content (music/footage etc) otherwise they will nuke your account.
  • I have a question about this actually. A few months ago hubby made a few videos that include gameplay and some in which he does an instructional video on how to do something in a program.
Now he also got the permission to monetize his videos.
One of the Youtube instructional vids. says that you must have permission for everything in your videos. Does that mean that his vids are not valid? But then there are SO many similar type videos that are monetized and I really doubt that the maker has the permission to use video game footage, music, etc. ... or does it all fall under fair use?
  • Thought I'd add that you need to open a google AdSense account (you'll need to sign up for a google gmail account first). Second your content will need to be unique, high value and your own copyright. Thirds it needs to be getting a significant amount of traffic, usually a new thousand views in a shortish period before YouTube will ask you to partner.

I like to use Prezi (a zooming and panning presentation software) to create my presentation and then screen record this using camtasia and do the voice over using audacity. Works a treat. Let me know if you want to see an example. I am happy to share my methods to help you out. Also, got some nifty secrets forgetting the views moving pretty fast too.

You can google the product names above, Prezi you can get free, audacity is free and camtasia costs a few hundred but there are other equivalents that are free you can use.

My youtube channel is called greatbirthdayideas. I'm not proud of the animation (at all!) as I'm a newby to making videos, it's the optimisation of keywords that i think has made it successful so far.
I was asked by youtube to become a partner, but I understand they have now changed the protocol and any-one can apply.

You must own the content or have permission to use it commercially to be able to monetise. But I see many many videos that are monetising content they obviously don't own, so not really sure about this. Maybe ask one of the people who are already doing it??
