Does that mean its in my favour and how long does it take to reconsider?

It should be quite quick. Managers give absolute priority to MP enquiries. It's a black mark for them that something got that far (unless nothing is wrong) and they don't want a remedy delayed.

I've not been in DWP since 2004 but every manager I ever had wanted it looked at that day.

(it's actually quite galling since you may have promised a few callers that you would get their claims done that day and now your manager tells you to drop that work because they want to suck up to an MP :()

If it was something obviously wrong it was corrected that day. Hopefully, in your case, proper consideration would be given to your info.

My post on the first page implies the likely automatic response - "that's what they all say" - but that your case was different.

I am surprised they didn't relent earlier, but now there may be some pressure from the manager who will want to give the MP good news. Maybe there will be a rethink.

Or they might decide to seek further confirmation - as if they don't have enough already.

Thanks for the reply. I think i will contact DWP in the morning to try and push it some more.
I think there is enough evidence and i could produce more if it comes to it, so fingers crossed it will be a fast decision.
Would they contact my MP before me?

That really depends on what they decide to do and how & when to do it.

The last time I had one it had become so complicated it needed at least 4 hours work to resolve and I did it on weekend overtime. It would have been impossible in the normal office situation so once it had been decided what to do, it was delayed for a few days until then.

They might want to do it all, so they can tell the MP the outcome or they might tell the MP they've had a change of mind and will get it done ASAP.

Or stick to their position :(

Well i had a letter off HM Courts and Tribunals Service yesterday they have made a date for the tribunal :(3 weeks into January.
MP told me they were going to reconsider it and will let me know by the 21st of this month.
So they didn't reconsider my case?
I don't know how im going to survive much longer.
I have been told by MP that i am allowed 3 foodbank vouchers, but although that is really helpful i will have no means of cooking it.
So i will have to wait until end of January for result.
    This is so stressful.
Am i eligible to claim again ESA on the grounds that my illness has worsened? (Depression).
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'd say the Tribunal date is just coincidence for an appeal already in the system and that the reconsideration would still go ahead. Otherwise they'd be misleading the MP.

The 21st Dec could just be some kind of target issue - claims cleared in X days, reconsiderations done in Y days, that sort of thing.

So it might be done quicker. Sorry, can't help with the other question....it's after my time. I do remember that different health issues or a significant change was okay for trying again, but maybe not for non attendance at a medical.

I'd suggest you make a separate thread on that so the question is seen or pm someone like benefitbaby or rogerblack
  • Have you got anyone who would let you use their address as a C/O address?

I use a care of address for my DWP mail, due to a Tennant in my building who likes to leave the front door open
