Have been abit silly considering my latest ups and downs with money, but I have calculated what my overdraft will be by the end of next week and it should be -£1949. (Lets hope I have no disasters to ruin it )

This still looks horrendous but it is a big improvement to the -£3000 it was in November & December.

This takes my total paid off since my LBM in November 2012 to £2438.
    Thats 14% :j:j.

Made quite a big headway in January because I virtually sold off all my family gold :(, and Eb#yed everything I had of any value.

Not sure I can make this amount of gain every month, but should be able to pay off around £500, which is just under 3%.

Feels good to mark this down.
Think I will do this at the end of every month, just to tally up.

wow £2438 in a couple of months is fantastic!! well done!!

hope your ds is feeling better soon x
  • Also want to add a personal goal

2013 (aged 38) Goal is to pay off at least 50% of debt.
2014 (aged 39) Goal is to pay off final 2 credit cards, be debt free.
2015 (aged 40) Use all spare money to save at least £6000.

By aged 40 I hope to have financial freedom (except mortgage :o). And also to have accrued some savings so that hubby has a fall back plan if ill or without work.

Just got to hope the brown stuff does'nt start flying in the next three years ;). What are my odds do you think :)

Anyway, its a nice plan to have. I would love to have my debts paid off before the end of 2014 but life being the way it is, I don't want to set a really tight plan and only fail and be disappointed.

As long as we don't have any major illness, unemployment or major disasters we should achieve it
  • Hi Steph,

I think its good to have goals and at the end of the day is things extend by a year, it's no great loss. Personally with the amount if steam you've got, I'm sure that you'll acheive them. x
  • :T to 14% paid off already! :j

Goals sound good! It's a fab idea to have a plan to work towards Xx
    Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
Best win so far - holiday to Florida
  • Thanks PMO2 and PLMBL

I have started the year with a bang, but then I am always good while I am enthusiastic.

I have to be careful, because by the time you get to your mid thirties you know what your failings are. And mine are not sticking to things and being very faddy.

I am doing good so far. I am three months in and still going strong :T. Just got to keep coming on here EVERY day to keep my enthusiam up.

I can remember back to my last go at killing this debt and I remember being busy and forgetting to check my bank statement for a week or so and having bought extra things. This then made me scared to log into my bank account so I just avoided it and the rest is history. I cannot let that happen again.

I would like to think that I could achieve my goals sooner than planned, but in reality I probably can't. With no emergency fund in place, if something goes wrong it will go straight onto my overdraft which will be a set back.

There are bound to be lots of setbacks, just little ones hopefully :o

Thanks LL. Got to have goals I suppose, just got to make sure we don't set ourselves up for failure. Don't think mine are too way off. Hopefully.
Reaching the big 40 is going to be despressing enough without still be deep in debt too .

    Well Good morning Diary.

Have had a lovely lie in this morning after my night of lost sleep with Ds on Thursday night.

Got up, put the tumble drier on and aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh.

It started making the MOST horrendous nise, I had to turn it straight off :(

Hubby has it in pieces as well speak, he is hoping it is just something stuck in it or maybe the bearings that he might be able to replace. Fingers Crossed.

He is still VERY negative about my airer idea, I am not sure what happenned as I know he had started to make one in the shed, but then he stopped :(.

I have told him that if we can't fix the tumble, then he will HAVE to make me an airer, as I am NOT buying a new tumble.

Life is trying to ruin my debt-busting and I will not let it ;)

Thankfully it is a beautiful mild sunny day here today, so I have hung my washing on the line.

Fabulous day outside, I hope you all are being treated to the same weather. It gives me hope that spring isn't too far away :T

Hope you are all having a good day xx
  • Hubby fixed the tumble drier :T:T:T:T:T:T

The bearings were gone and something had sheared off the drum.
He dissappeared into the shed and made a new bearing and bolted what had broken back onto the drum and it now works better than it has for months :j.

    Phew £120 saved :D
