Just popping in to offer a huge (((HUG))) to you.
He will hopefully get his head around the issue once he's had a think about it. x0 -
Rant all you like, it's what your diary is for!
I know jobs in schools are like hen's teeth, but it sounds to me like working in a school would be the answer to your problems re kids holidays etc.
Alternatively, my contract at work (Mr A) is seasonal which basically means I can work or not. They offer me the shift, I say yes or no. Something like that could work for you. Or working from home? MIL was a medical secretary for Consultants in their private clinics and she always worked from home.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

I feel it all coming to a head. I had somehow convinced myself that hubby never really asked for any money so it did'nt really matter if he was'nt on board. He always claims that he's the one that works and i'm the one that spends.
Now I am realising that he does spend quite abit of money per month, I just never budgeted for it.
Most of the catalogue debt is just clothes for the kids and Birthday / Christmas presents because you get in a viscious circle when you are in debt.
You have no spare cash, so you have to use expensive catalogue to get stuff. But if I was more careful with the cash, I could afford to shop around and get stuff alot cheaper. So the debt gets worse and worse. Grrrrr .
I WILL stick my foot down on this. If he insists on golfing & Tennis etc, then he is going to have to work extra jobs to do it. Even though that would still be annoying as that money would be better going off on debts.
I have already said that any extra above his normal wage he earns, he can save for a gun. He thought it was quite funny, when I suggested him putting it in a savings jar. He has insisted on keeping it in his wallet, where I know it will just get spent. But I guess thats up to him.
I would REALLY like to get a part time job, so that I had money of my own to do stuff with, but even though the children are in school so I could. What on earth do I do during the holidays??.
I have no parents anymore, my inlaws are in their 70's and unwell and no other close family locally.
I have only ever been a secretary so doubt my wages would justify paying for a summer school or some activity thing. and I don't really feel its fair to pack the kids off to something EVERY day of the holidays, it should be their time to chill out at home.
I would probably lose loads of Children Tax Credit as well, so not really be any better off.
Am I just making excuses, am I missing a trick somewhere?
Just ordered another CashforGold package. I have some of my grans old rings that can go. I am just keeping her wedding ring and a couple of bits. It is a shame to sell the bits I am sentimental about.
Sorry to rant on today. just a bad day xxx
Have been following your diary for a while and when I read this post I understood completely how you feel about a job/childcare. I am in a similar position but one thing you can do on the job front is sign up with a recruitment agency and tell them you are available for temporary work school hours and term time only. I have done this and I also used to be a recruitment consultant and we had a number of people on our books who were only available to work at certain times. Good luck xDebt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thats a good idea Dolly, I will have a look at the local recruitment agencies and give one a call.
I am happy to do anything really. I just need to be able to dissappear in the school holidays.
Thanks for posting xx0 -

Thanks LL, I needed a big hug :grouphug:.
Have taken Dolly's suggestion and have called and emailed my CV to two local recruitment Agencies. Red Berry & Acorn Recruiting.
The lady at Red Berry said they do have short-term or recurring positions coming up for people who only want part-time short-term work. So fingers crossed.
I know it sounds daft but I would LOVe a call centre. Years ago I worked for BT Directory Enquiries and it was great. Very flexible, lots of overtime if wanted.
Think the branch by me shut down and as I live in Dorset I don't think we have many. They are all in the big cities.
But I am not fussy, will take anything I can get.

finegrs crossed something will come up. yep call centres are ideal for someone in your position but needs must ay so hopefully the recruitment agency will find you something

I have managed to get 10 x 50g packs of hubbys tobacco for £90.
Think they are Duty Free.
I have worked out that they should last him until mid-June. I am going to keep an eye on them to make sure he isn't smoking it all too quickly.
That works out alot cheaper at £26 per month.
Thats one issue sorted out.0 -

Hi Steph,
Hope your ok. The suggestions re jobs are very good ones, or is there anything you could do from home?
I hope you manage to find something that suits and if you do make sure you take a cut for your own personal spends.
