    Morning!

Bad news for your poor dh, glad he is feeling better though. When my dh hurt his back, a friend of mine recommended a local osteomyologist. Sounds fancy, but it's basically a chiropractor with a few more years training :rotfl: The guys basically finds the nerve in the back next to the 'pain' and manipulates the nerve and voila! A few hours later and my dh was right as rain! Only one session needed, think it was about £60 though, but it was worth it so dh could go back to work the next day. Don't know if you can google and see if there is someone like that near you, it's worth taking note in case it happens again to your dh :)
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
  • Thanks Zepsgal & Purple.

I was hoping that hubbys DR might refer him to an Osteopath or Chiropracter. Have no clue if its a disc problem or what. His dad had big slipped disc issues when he was younger. Not sure if it is a heiredatory (sp) thing.?

A bad back is the last thing we need to happen to the main wage earner. Things like this happenning make me realise how dangerous it is, us being in such debt with no savings. We would lose everything if hubby could'nt work.
What a situation to get into

If it kills me, I am going to get all this debt gone and some saving in the next two years. I just pray to god nothing bad happens during that time .

On that depressing note I will go :D

    Hi Scuff,

I did try to grow the luffa, but it did'nt work out. I am still hoping to have some success. We are hoping to buy a poly tunnel in the spring and I will have another try in there.

How weird that you found a post from me. What website was that from?

    Thanks for reading xxxx

It was from MSE, I didn't stalk that hard :P I live in a flat with no garden, so would be growing them in the windows, thought it might work cos is effectively a greenhouse. I'm going to give it a go anyway, I've found seeds online for £2.60 so will only have lost that if it doesn't work out!

Haha I'm glad you did'nt stalk too hard. I used to post alot on a site called "Down To Earth" which was by a frugal living woman called Rhonda in Australia.
She grows luffa's and fills slices of them with homemade soap for gifts. I loved that idea and I thought that might have been where you read about it.

Her posts are worth checking out, she's a wonderful woman.

Good luck with growing them. Like you said its not alot of money to gamble with if it does'nt work.

    Keep me posted. xxx

    Evening Diary,

Had quite a domestic day. I tidied the utility room and got more washing on whilst cooking the lamb roast.

Baked a chocolate cake with DD, and also made some chocolate dipped flapjacks with DS. That should hopefully be enough goodies for packed lunches next week. Also got their PE bags packed.

Last day to spend at home tomorrow before back to school. Got them into bed at 7pm sharpish tonight as they had a late night at grandads last night and need to be fresh and ready for school on Tuesday.

Think I might try to make a curry tomorrow night with the left over roast lamb.

I need to give the childrens school shoes a good polish tomorrow. DD shoes have worn through the leather on the toe and DS shoes are very scuffed.

I might have a look on Ebay for some 2nd hand school shoes that are a size larger then they have. See if there are any bargains to be had. I really cannot afford to factor in £50+ for new shoes until at the earliest March.

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
  • Oh that does sound nice. I am a huge fan of baking treats with the kids; occupies an afternoon (when I'd have had to entertain them anyway, so it's not time lost from me, if you see what I mean) and then yummy things in the lunchbox all week.

I don't iron if I can help it, but when I do, I do the same thing; telly and sitting down. It's the only time I watch telly, since you can't read and iron simultaneously. I have a highish ottoman and my board goes down low.

    What is luffa?

    Morning Armchairexpert,

I do love baking with the kiddies, my son never used to be that interested, but now we have to bake two lots of things as he likes to join in.

I always hope that they start to learn how to bake themselves eventually, so I might have passed on a skill. I must remember to get them involved with cooking the dinners sometimes.
I only ever helped my mum bake cakes, so when I moved out I could cook a mean victoria sponge but no clue how to boil an egg :o.

A Luffa, is the long cylindrical natural things people use to rub their backs in the shower. They only usually grow in hot climates, but when I was going through my soap making phase, I wanted to grow them and slice them into 3 inch cylinders and fill them with soap. Lovely gifts but I never managed to grow them.

Hope you have a good week.
