  • Thanks for your replies Mummytogirls & LL,

Well I have finally figured out my Excel Spreadsheet and can now make it total all my incoming and outgoing money. That has saved me alot of time and tapping on the calculator :o.
I have also done a debts total sheet, alot like the Snowball calculator results. Think it will be nice to update that at the end of every month. I can't work it out too far in advance as I am not advanced enough with finances to take into account interest charges. But it will keep me incentivised to update it every month.:)

Am working out that I can throw at least £800 per month on debts and any extra can chip away at my overdraft. I expect that clearing all the debts next year is abit ambitious, but if I can more than half it I will be very pleased.

Mummytogirls - would like to think that the children might get some selection boxes, but we have precious little family and they normally get one toy each for the children and that is it.
This year they will get one present from each grandparents.
1 from my uncle and two from close friends. so 5 extra pressie in total.

I am an avid homebaker, so as long as well have some ingredient in the cupboard, I can often rustle up something sweet to satisfy our cravings. Have been working through the larder cupboard for a while though, so it is abit depleted.

Sold our last turkey which is fantastic so should reap in the total amount of money we can possibly get. That might help prevent those January DD bouncing.

Will have a look at my DD's and see if there are a couple I can ring to see if I can spread them out abit more. Its always the first week which is dangerous, so would really help. thanks for the tip Mummytogirls xx

Off to make my poorly children their lunch xxx
  • YAY to being a geek with your spreadhseet. your lpan going forward sounds realistic and achievable :)

hope the kids shake off their bugs soon xx

  • Morning MSE'rs

Well, Kids have gone off to school today, still not that well, but its party day at school with Father Christmas visiting so thought it would be a shame if they missed it all.

Got to meet my best mate today to exchange childrens presents. I got some great deals on their pressie's through the Amazon discounts link from this website. My bestie is very posh and always over-spends on my childrens presents and it leaves me feeling guilty that I did'nt get them more.
Well.....I have high hopes to impress her this year. I managed to get her two boys a remote controlled helicopter each that was supposed to be £33 reduced down to £13. So hopefully looks like I spent alot more than I actually did. Thank you MSE.

I have decided I need to be more careful with my Kindle....I have looked back at my spreadsheet from my LBM in mid November to todays date and the only misc spend I seem to keep doing is buying E-books on my Kindle.
I have spent £11.57 in 6 weeks . That works out at £100 per year. I am MAD on reading and would rather read than watch the tv.

I got hooked on The Hunger Games books and had to keep buying the next book :o.
I am just finishing the last book now, and vow from now on I will either read what I haven't yet read from my Kindle or will search for the free books. I have Little Women, that embarrassingly I have never read, that was free so will read that next.

Finished my T3sco order last night. Feel slightly nervous that I have forgotten something important, but its only my mother coming for Christmas so not a disaster if I have missed something.

I had set myself a £200 food spend max this month and have come in at £220. Not bad for my first month trying AND its December. Although I could bend the rules and claim to be within £200 as this shop has to last us until the 7th January. So half of my last shop should be in my January budget. Nevermind.

Anyway, I seem to be overly chatty this morning so will stop bashing your eardrums and go and get ready.
    speak soon

    Steph

  • Thanks for your replies Mummytogirls and LL,

Feeling quite rough today, I have got the childrens cold and my skin is sore, eyes watery and just generally feel very poohie :(.

Got so much to do though. I really ought to get the house all tidied and straight as we have a busy weekend getting the turkeys all dressed and delivered, so Saturday will be dressing and sunday and Monday will be delivering.

I also need to pop out and get the birds some more feed to last over Christmas, not much left.

Hubby was very good yesterday. I felt so rough, I did the children up a quick dinner of fish fingers and in a moment of weakness I suggested to hubby that we should have a takeway as I could'nt get the will to make anything decent.

I put the children to bed and while I was doing that, he had gotten some bacon out and had started abit of a mixed grill for us. claiming that we are trying to budget and it would be a shame to ruin it now. :T:T:T. How good is that.

So glad I did'nt get the takeway as I would be feeling really rubbish this morning for the extra spend.

Am giving myself till 10am to get a few coffee's in me, then I must start cleaning...eugh:(

Hope you are all feeling well and ready for Christmas.

  • Awwww poor you Steph, hope you are feeling better soon.

Thats good of DH with the cooking, thats what you need someone to pull you back in when you need it haha! My DH is very good at doing that, and sometimes he really annoys me, but then I do know why hes doing it.

Hope you have a productive day as it sounds like youve a very busy weekend ahead xx
