I usually find jabbing a nail file or something similar into the slot of my teramundi pot while holding it upside down frees a few coins
!
Can you take the jewellery into a local jewellers that buy second hand items for a feel of their value? They will obviously offer you less than they hope to sell them for, but it may well be more than you'd get on eb@y. I've never tried to sell any jewellery on eb@y so I don't know how it sells, but you need to factor in sending it recorded delivery or similar (sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs). Morning Diary,
thanks for reply PLMBL. I think I will have to get the knife into the tin because her tooth is out . It do hope she has no school photo's anytime soon as she looks terrible.
Got a local bloke coming out this afternoon about the boiler. But chatting to him hubby has got a few ideas about blocked filters etc so he is outside in the rain trying to see if he can make a difference so we might be able to cancel the plumber. Fingers Crossed. Got the oven on at the moment to try and take the chill out of the house.
Kids are dancing to Just Dance 4 on the Wii at the moment so are keeping warm :rotfl:. I might have to join in, in a minute.
Have been trying to change our Broadband and home phone supplier, what a nightmare.
I have been trying to go through Topcashback.
ee looked like a good company until I spoke to them and apparently because of our area ours would be £10 extra per month and not unlimited access. Grrrr.
SKY broadband don't serve our area and I found another one called Primus but reviews are bad.
Who would have thought it would be so tricky....Nevermind I will keep searching.
Hubby is officially in a bad mood now. He has been out in the rain trying to figure out the boiler. He is such a practical guy that if he can't work something out a bad mood follows quickly behind. Hope the plumber arrives soon and gets it sorted. eeek0 -

Thanks for your help Rising. I have just given them a try. They will cover our area at a slightly more expensie tariff than advertised (£8.49 instead of £4.99) but then they killed it when they wanted £49.99 set up fee.. I don't have that to spend so had to cancel.
Will keep searching.......
Just popped out and bought two sacks of coal as boiler is still dead. Think it is the brain that has died so will have to pay over £110 for the part then pay for it to be fitted. The plumber did'nt have the correct part and have decided not to pay out for someone to come out this side of New Years eve as the prices will be astronomical. Will have to survive with the coal fire and hot water bottles until the 2nd January.:(.
What a nightmare0 -
I was wondering on the way to get coal from the garage.
Why is it that everytime we start to get our finances anywhere near sorted something has to break so it ends up setting us back...Grrrrr.
I guess the answer is to just keep going. Not be put off by the set backs and keep plodding on.
Its soooo Bloomin annoying though.
When I drive the car there is something wrong with it that I know will be the next problem. It is really lumpy when I break, hubby thinks its a warped disc brake.
My spreadsheet looks so optimistic and I just know I won't get anywhere near to my forecasted situation because everything is going to BREAK.:mad:
Ok vent over. Sorry0 -

Think I have had success with the Broadband and Homephone Provider.
Tesco's is coming up with £14.50 Line Rental (My BT £22.50) and unlimited Broadband for £8 for 12 months.
I need to get a MAC code from BT to be able to complete the order but they are all closed and doubt will be back until 2nd Jan so will have to wait.
Will also get £38 back hopefully from TopCashback.
That will save me £20+ per month. abit more shaved off the budget.0 -

Hi LL,
I tried EE but they could'nt serve my area without it being £21 per month Broadband, not much better than BT.
Tried home insurance to see if it covered the boiler but no luck:(.
Not sure how I am paying for boiler repair yet, think i will just have to be slow at paying whichever poor plumber comes out next week..
In the past I would just give up budgeting after a setback like this as I would get disheartened but I am sticking with it.
Thanks for your positive thoughts. Fingers crossed its just a little hiccup.0 -

Beeping beep! I certainly didn't pay a set up fee - was going to suggest you phone them as they're great on the phone & have (so far) matched any other deal I've come acrossbut see you've got something sorted ... great news!:T especially to £20 / month saved:money:

Ohhhh (((hugs))) - I know how you feel. I seem to have one big appliance (and usually a couple of little ones - kettle, iron, toaster etc) break every year. Last 4 years, I've had to get a new oven, then washing machine, then fridge/freezer and just this month TD (although the old one was 17 yo so shouldn't really complain, it served me well!) ..... my emergency fund just starts looking like it might cover something when .... it needs to!:pGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
