Thanks Rising.
I am glad its not just me that feels like i am fighting against the tide with things breaking down.
I keep looking at the Spreadsheet trying to see where I can pare it down some more. The only thing left is SKY, but hubby just won't budge on it. It does'nt help that it is in his name so I cant cancel anything off without him having to call with me..
Fingers crossed I can get the broadband etc changed next week. that will help. If it does'nt work out with Tesco I will call your company. thanks hun xx0 -

Afternoon Diary,
Quiet day here today, another NSD.:j
Am I being a real bore, but I am dreading New Years Eve.?
We are going down the village pub and all I can think of is the potential £50 we will spend on drinks. I have it budgeted for and hubby is looking forward to it. but I am not....
We hardly ever go out but we always do either go to a party or a pub on New years eve. No getting out of it, but I really resent the waste of money:o:o.
Just want to get past tomorrow night and then I can settle down to a debt busting 2013.
I would much rather stay at home with a drink with the children, but thats no different to the rest of the year and I know hubby would be dissappointed. I have such hermit tendancies.
Bread in the bread machine failed today, so we are having to have crackers and cheese for lunch. Don't know what I did wrong???.
Am going to do a meal plan for next week. I have no shopping budget until monday the 7th so I need to cook wisely next week. With hubby and kids home everyone seems to eat alot more, must be boredom.
Have decided to be relaxed on cleaning the house until New years day, then I am going to blast my way through the house and give it a deep clean. I might even put away the Xmas Decorations. I get really annoyed with the clutter they create. I know some people think its bad luck. but luck is what you make it..
Hope you are all having a good day.0 -
Hi StressedSteph
Hope you don't mind but i have subscribed to your diary.
Just a thought re new years eve drinking
For my staff Christmas party what i did was to take an empty small bottle (it was a 200ml bottle) and add my drink of choice (Amaretto) and put it in my purse.
Then all i needed to order was just some coke. It lasted the whole night and all i spent was £3.500 -
Thanks for your reply Ammaretto, its good idea about the sneaky pop bottle but its a REALLY small pub so doubt I could get away with it.
I am very good at nursing a drink all night but they are a wild bunch so I sometimes ought to drink a fair bit to keep up with them:p.
At least I am well this year, I had a terible throat infection last year and its was a real struggle.
Hubby is out mucking out the turkey shed and overfilling all my compost bins:o, think we really need a muck heap building in 2013.
Am trying in vain to knuckle down to writing up next weeks meal plan.
Does anyone have any ideas what i can do with half a ham?. I really need to use it up before I defrost anymore meat but apart from ham egg and chips i am clueless. Have looked at the Grocery challenge food list but not much there for ham.
Have forced myself to stop staring at my spreadsheet today. I keep looking for imaginary way to save money, but there just isn't any ways left. All there is, is the broadband which I will change next week and SKY. Will keep on at hubby about that0 -
Hi Steph
No, I feel the same way now. I just don't enjoy sitting around in a pub any more, even if there are other people to talk to. I'd much rather be entertained (like go and see a band or a film), or go for something to eat. I'm not really a big fan of boozing so it's just dead money to me.
And, I did similar to Ammeretto at Xmas; took a bottle of wine in a gift bag and kept topping the glass up with the bottle! No one seemed to notice and the staff were even taking away our empties without questioning why there was bottles of wine on the table that they didn't even sell!Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -

This is sooooo true and exactly how I feel. I sometimes worry I am really antisocial. Hubby is quite a lover of the pub, even though he does'nt get to it very often, so if I ever voice my hate of it, I feel like a real bore.
I would much rather go to the theatre or even the cinema for a good night. I hate the feeling of being drunk and then hungover. God I am taking after my mother :eek:0 -
Happy to join the Hermit Gang
I spent a rather large part of my "former life" in pubs .. both working & drinking and really thought I couldn't live without it.
Now ... can't actually remember the last time I went out to the pub:o just doesn't appeal to me anymore - I also don't / can't drink so maybe that's why it doesn't (I did drink far too much in the wild days:()
Anyway ... I usually dread what I'm going to do with myself but this year I've not really had to worry about it as I'm not well enough to go out anyway so not had to dream up excuses to give people!:o
I've treated myself to a huge bag of cheese puffs (full of horrid things but yum!) and a tub of Pr*ingles and will sit and watch whatever carp's on the telly ... probably in my PJs ...Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
