    Your search criteria

The JCP Job points are already localised by default.

If the location of the job you inquired for via 0845 606 0234 had no public transport available to it from your home, you probably could decline but remember the DWP are sanction happy (guilty until proved innocent) so it still might go to the decision maker until you proved it.

BTW I’m not being intentionally argumentative, it’s just that’s the type of logic those mofo's operate on.
if a job is too far you would have to prove it. if you ever get refered for a job that is too far away just apply for it to save yourself from any hassle from the jobcentre. if the employer contacts you about your interest just explain to them the problem you have. you will find in most cases they do have common sense unlike the dwp.
  • Read an article on the Daily Mail saying that 6000 jobs have been taken off the new website because they were fake. How many people would have been matched to these jobs and made to apply for these jobs? The government are clueless. They dont see the security issues. I have not and will not sign up until i am told i have to.
  • Thanks for that - I'll go and buy one! Not that I would ,ever, usually! Just to say beware.... esp ladies ... I also read an article online saying there were dodgy sleazy jobs on there under the guise if computer/telephone jobs 'working from home.' Don't part with ANY personal details that might put you at risk, anything about living alone, being single, needing money, jobs involving 'interviews' in isolated locations - or even alone in offices. IDS and DWP just Have To Get A Grip on this before theres a tragedy or massive fiasco! :(

Years ago an agency wanted to meet me in a coffee shop for an interview and when I said no thanks the bloke asked me why and I replied you could be anyone and no one.

    2013 Year of gloom
Not going to be a good year for Job Seekers 2013.

1- Bedroom tax on housing benefit.

2- Will have to pay 29% council tax.

    3- Universal credit.

    4- Sanction year.

Happy new year folks, i dont think.
  • At present, it is NOT mandatory to sign up for ujm (see twitter, its going crazy about this!), though i see more jobs* needing an ID to be able to apply via the site..

(* thats apart from the bogus listings, for webchat staff, d r u g runners etc!)

BE CAREFUL if you do signup or UJM- tickboxes may give JCP and whoever else access to your info, and allow JCP to add 'suggested' jobs that you then HAVE TO apply for, or face sanctions if no good reason given..

I would advise just putting up a very basic CV< with name and (spare) email address - DO NOT give home address, DoB NINo etc, or names / specific dates of employment..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

    or your phone number.
  • How can people on JSA be expected to pay a chunk of the council tax? Thats just stupid on £71.00 per week and I think will lead to people committing crime if they cant get by.
A policewoman came to my house in the summer and we were talking and she said that shoplifting and crime had gone up massively since the recession.

the government has cut the budget for ctb by 10% and is leaving the decision regarding who gets what to the local councils themselves. so how much someone has to pay depends on what their council decides.
