    Great. Show me where I can get a 1 bedroom flat in local area and I'll move into it as soon as the wee man leaves home. In some areas, there aren't any.     We were a family of 4 living in a 2 bed, mixed children. Got rid of the x. Then upgraded to a 3 bed (well if u can call the box room that). Then when dd left home, we went to a 2 bedroom. Don't think they'll be happy until we're out in the street in all honesty.

    I have to ask you Kat if you will be happy to give up a secure tenancy to move into a one bed private rental when your children leave home.... Remembering that you may have to find removal costs every x amount of months depending on the tenancy.

    well as there are loads of 2 beds may as well split up the family
    and get 2x 2 bed it will cost the taxpayer more,
    but i will be ok

    In doing so, you would free up a bigger property for a family on the waiting list who are claiming LHA. The cost to the taxpayer may be higher for your family, but overall there are savings to be made if Social Housing stock is used more efficiently.

    i would be then affecting 2 different families :o
    and both properties would have to be adapted
    for disabled use.

    As, I presume, is the property you would be leaving. A very rare Social Housing resource and one that would be very expensive if let in the private sector, so even more savings for the taxpayer which is, I know, what concerns you most.

    could never move around as others do.
    so that is defo out the question main concern.

    With a 16 year old child at home, I don't understand why you're personally worried about the changes.

    Regarding your last sentence, why would a single person or couple with no children living at home be a priority for social housing anyway, unless there's a disability involved?

    because some people dont just care about themselves.

    they see that this ruling is going to cause a lot of trouble for a lot of people that are living with diffivulties anyway.

    no one at all would see this new rule as a bad thing, if everything was in place ( smaller properties available for thise that need them)

    people who struggle on a dailly basis, are now having to worry if they can afford to pay the extra

    not everyone is as fortunate as you, and security is all theyt have.
    now for many, that will be taken too

    Without going through everything available in the area, I found a 1 bed ground floor cottage flat, own garden, pets allowed, GSH, street parking in neighbouring in Baguley, very near to Wythenshaw Hospital. It's available to bid on this week and took me 2 minutes to find.
