Tbh, I don't really mind, but I do think it is a bit odd. I was thinking while I am away how I am a confusing household.
I am very much in a couple, but my husband is away for the working week, so I face some single issues still, but not all of them. I Have know children, so no longer belong on whatever families is now (though I still have one of them) and I have a resident parent most of the time. So do I still belong on all three boards or none as I don't neatly fit any one classification?
I think the thing is we will have to post our issues one different boards as they are appropriate, so a straight parenting issue is obvious even if the parent is a single parent. I think the lifestyle issues are harder.....children do make impact beyond their own issues. All sorts of things cannot be pigeon holed from the impact that they might have on your children.0 -
Ugh why split everything up?? I'm not going to trawl through every single subdivision, and I doubt many others will, so the boards will dry up. Stupid.0

I am really confused about what board I should post on. I am not sure life is always as clear cut as singles & couples. I have a partner, we are engaged but not rushing to get married. I have my own house and so does he. Mostly we live apart. A few months ago he stayed with me as I was very ill and needed some care. He then went home. Now he is back with me while some work gets done in his house. When the work is done he will return to his own house. I usually just live with my cat. Partner and I have seperate finances. Not sure if we are a moneysaving couple or singletons? Most confusing.
Can't you be both? I read the boards not as being "all singles must only post here" and "all couples must only post here" but rather "issues related to coupledom here" and "issues related to the single life here". After all we don't confine everyone over fifty to the 50+ board or everyone with a pet to the Pets board.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I really don't like this .......... of course I wasn't interested in every thread the way the boards were but it was easy enough to scroll through the ones that weren't of interest.
Just because I'm single now (happily so, I will add) doesn't mean that I've never been in a relationship & can't offer advice to those that might find themselves in a similar situation now to one I have been in at some point ........

Yup, I get where you're coming from - but it's yet another board to check all the time.
I guess that might be OK if you only post in this area of MSE but if you post in most sections then it's a pain in the "what not" TBH.
ETA I do also think we'll lose useful advice eg I would never go to the over 50s boards ... so why would someone who's in a couple come over here ..... even though they might have relevant advice to offer.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

But how many threads are specifically related to being single?
Benefits threads go on benefits boards etc
I've rarely seen anybody post threads that are specifically related to being single.
Anything regarding financially struggling shouldn't relate to relationship status. If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Why the segregation MSE?
I know single people are often pariahs but this is ridiculous! I notice that the death/pet care/health and beauty boards are now under the auspices of 'Money Saving Mums and Dads' so I guess I'm not supposed to read those anymore...
How appropriate, Person One, that you brought this up - but I'm with you. I dunno what it's all about either...
