  • I think it could be quite useful having it split this way, it doesn't mean you're forbidden from sharing in any other area, but money saving/dealing with debt etc. can be completely different if you're single, coupled up or with children.

When I first came here what I WANTED to see was how single people manage, because I had recently become single and was panicking about how I would manage alone, and had to go through all the threads about couples or families to find them, fair enough it's not like that was a massive deal at all, it just meant I read a few extra things which isn't a bad thing. Might get shot down for this, but one thing I have discovered since becoming single again is that couples forget (and I was the same) that it isn't the same when you're alone, what was once shared between two both financially and emotionally is now only shared with yourself (and in my case, 3 cats who must get bloody tired of listening), and I can sometimes get disheartened when I remember that when my coupled up friends talk about money etc that in most cases they're doing exactly the same as me, only with double the salary. Ummm...think I've lost my way somewhere in writing this, hope it makes some form of sense!

And anyway, like I said, just because you don't fit into a specific category doesn't mean you can't contribute!! It's just like having a thread for debt and a thread for savings, you're essentially doing the same things but under different circumstances and it helps to keep them separate.

Or "People who miss the point" boards - it would be standing room only for some.

The Families Board was my home! They've come in and rearranged my life! I don't like it!

Anyone up for a sit in?

  • Well I'm not single but I'd rather spend my time here than on the couples board. Surely this is where the party is?

Post reported for user being in the wrong place.

Get back to the right boards before I call the fuzz on you.

Just hang on 5 minutes while I dump the OH.

EDIT: If I can drag his attention away from Medal of Honor for 5 minutes that is.
  • I think I stated the obvious with my choice of user name. I've already been referred to as 'Single' elsewhere on here. *shudder*

As a long-time lurker, I'm not sure I like the division but maybe I haven't posted enough to have an opinion.

Oh, well. Changes have happened in every set of internet forums I've belonged to. They're not necessarily liked at first but it's amazing how quickly people adapt. Or leave ...

    Shutting up now.

To me, being a singleton means not having kids, not being in a relationship, not living with a partner/OH.

It looks more like "Single Mums Board" to me.

Well where the heck are us single mums meant to go then if we're not 'singletons' 'cause we sure as hell aren't in a couple!

Taken from Wikipedia (yeah yeah,I know, crap resource but it's for a reason!)

Singleton (lifestyle), a self-description of individuals without romantic partners, particularly applied to women in their thirties introduced in the novel and film Bridget Jones's Diary

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singleton

Ok,so I'm single,I'm 30 and I have no romantic partner.HOWEVER,I would never describe myself as a 'singleton' and there is no chance on earth of me ever TRYING to find or LOOKING for a man or moping that I don't bloody have one!!!!!
