Maybe start a singles relevant thread in here again and see how it goes?
Not my understanding of the word 'family' nor the dictionary one, is it really yours?? Sick to the back teeth of hearing politicians bang on and on and on and on about pensioners and families without MSE pandering to the same buzzwords.
And no we don't need a singletons board, but having recognition that not everyone slots into (or wants to slot into!) the family/ parent box even if for twenty four hours was kind of nice.
And now I am being a negative whingebag.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I think they should have a "life and stuff" board somewhere to have a whine, celebrate non money savings things, ask general advice or all those daft questions you don't know where else to put.0

What exactly would you want to post that cannot be answered on any of the existing boards? People are not defined by their relationship status, everyone posts as a person first and foremost.
Being married, single, divorced, whatever...is only an added experience. I really cannot think of one subect about being single that cannot be discussed by everyone who's interested or has some particular knowledge on an issue regardless of their relationship status...Person_one wrote: »Being single doesn't mean you don't have a family or any relationships though!
I have parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, close friends, distant friends, acquaintances, work colleagues and I know the friends, partners and children of friends.
I see it as this is the place for posting about issues to do with your interpersonal relationships, whoever they may be with.
To both of you: same erroneous assumption, that I would have liked the boards to be divided by relationship status. I neither said nor intimated that, in fact if you read my posts you might appreciate I would have preferred other solutions but at least we were moving forwards not backwards. Sad that MSE pandered to the negative whingebags within twenty fours and reverted to a tired old format that does not cater for all.
This board used to be about moneysaving, the interpersonal relationships part was an add on or evolution. How many couples with 2.4 children know (or care) anything about living alone in this recession? I'm not going to bother starting a thread on any of the many issues I consider relevant, and haven't bothered to date knowing potentially 'minority' issues will be completely swamped by TTC and miscarriages and nuclear family dramas. How many threads do we have for people in or looking at same sex relationships? Why is that, don't they exist on MSE or is the status quo exclusive?

tbh - unless the poster was specific about being in a same sex relationship - how would we know? usernames can be non-gender specific, and the partner is usually referred to as such or OH! I bet loads of threads have been about same sex partnerships - we just didnt know it!
came on here to say 'Thanks for listening forum team'! The thread is evolving and I thought that everyone felt included, I remember the days when anything NOT moneysaving was exiled to 'The Arms', and what a dive that was! improved no end now, but still not suitable for some issues!0 -

But we do, as a board, recognise that don't we? Maybe not overtly but in the general run of things the topics that relate specifically to singletons don't get a response of "go away you don't belong here". More likely that, if a thread doesn't get a response, it's because people here have no interest in the subject or no experience. In which case it wouldn't matter how the board were divided up.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

"family" means more than one thing to me - I have my immediate family, which is my OH and my DD. Then I have my family, which is my parent, siblings, and their children (my aunts, uncles, cousins and their kids are also my family).
So "family" encompasses a lot of people to me.0 -

Until yesterday I had no inkling that this was an issue. I must have missed all the complaints that MSE got for not having a 'singletons' board. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
