Thank you all for your condolences,we knew it was terminal, but faster than anyone expected. I am getting there slowly but it takes a while to get rid of the "if only`s"

Sorry to hear you are recently widowed Please be careful in the loft alone, a friend of mine accidentally kicked the ladder away and had to wait 2 hours for her son to come back from school and reposition it

i always put my mobile in my pocket, but ladder is in a small space and cannot fall anyway,

In fact, this year for Christmas I am making a photo album up for my sister as a "This is your Life" type book.

My husbands niece made him a book like that for his 60th ,just under 6 years previous, there was blank pages left so I put all the sympathy cards ,order of funeral service etc in,

Anyway got what I wanted from loft, found a box of glassware ,forgot I had all those sundae dishes, also found pair of curtains I thought I had thrown away, So will wash them and put up in lounge ,as they are thicker than the ones there now ,,
Do I need it or just want it.

Aww, bless her.:o Not some form of cystitis, is it? That always makes me feel like I need to "go" when I don't.
I don't think so. I think she is just showing off that she can take her own pants down now :rotfl: she's not been quite so interested today as we've got the craft box out... Plus I've put a higher step up now so she can reach herself :shhh:

still loads of O.H. stuff in boxes, he died June, from when we moved here 5 years ago.
Sorry to hear of your loss, pamsdish x I lost my DH just a year ago. It wasn't an easy task Going through his things but I did feel a bit of a weight off my mind once it was done x wishing you peace x

We have done our baking and a wash. Need to empty DW and put away but other than that kitchen ok. Train track covering lr floor but DS will put that away before bed.

DD looks knackered but doesn't want a nap. Shall I put her in the buggy and let her scream for 5 mins? Or leave her awake and let her grump later? Decisions, decisions.

Oh, and I had a practice on the sewing machine. DS said will I make a dinosaur? So I've made the tattiest, scrattiest, looks like a child made it, dinosaur out of two bits of felt and some beads, lol. He's put it on his train track, under the bridge, and he says it's a troll haha. Just need to make some goats now... :D

So although I can put less elbow into it, perhaps I'm over-soaking everything?

I've realised that the reason we do it completely differently is that I think you are using a cream cleaner (c!f, j!f, whatever). I use the extreme budget version of it if something is really grim but going over any surface three times is not my thing. I'd rather do a swish and swipe more frequently when needed and not let it build up (there are no kids in this household). What I should have added is that with the way I do it, once in a while I wipe over floors with vinegar to get rid of any soapy residue that might make the floor slippery.

Good news on the loathing of dusting front. I dug out a fevver duster yesterday and skipping around the house took about 10 minutes, rather than the usual 30, so the yellow things will be used a lot less in future. Does anyone have any tips on how to clean or wash the modern synthetic version of feather dusters? It appears to need a bit of a clean itself and from what I can remember it has a special finish on the fibres to attract dust. I don't want to compromise that by using the wrong product on it.

AND the mystery of the over-consumption of loo roll is sort of solved. Lovely Lodger has gone to London for the weekend, and Nightmare Lodger is still with us, and is therefore the only person using the shower room. LL left at about 10.30 am, so I put five new rolls in the shower room immediately. NL was out all day yesterday, popped back in the evening for 10 minutes and was then out until 10.30 pm. She's been out most of the day so far today, and one of the loo rolls is over half gone. I simply do not know what she is using it for (post menopausal age group), but the great, fabulous, wonderful thing is She's Leaving On Tuesday Morning.:T:j:T:j:T:j:T

Sorry - just caught up with Fred and realised TMD-IN that you've already said you use cream cleaners.

Hugs for ((((Pam's Dish)))). My mother couldn't face dealing with my father's personal belongings, and asked me to do it for her. It was much easier on both of us, I think, than watching her struggle with her Parkinsons' and his clothes etc.

Thought I'd pop in with an update. I had a list of flying which I've ignored but it stopped raining, so I walked with the dogs. Have never seen so much water everywhere, in places I've never seen it before, and some of the walkways were impassable.

Also, I hoovered and swept through the house (am going to call this a head start on flying for the week ahead) and done three washloads, two of which are on the airer.

Also, had a nap for an hour. I feel sapped of energy today but it has been a very trying weekend. Going to have another cuppa now, maybe with something naughty, and catch up on reading the local rag.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • 75% of the way thru this weeks list going to have a blast in littlys room whilst hes splashing in bath now and then done the lists are wonderful as I lack total focus n get distracted doing a dozen jobs at once so their abling me to finish a complete room for a change, also catching up on fonecalls made me realise ive left my mobile in work last night so thanks millions x Looking forward to joining in more now ive caught up and decoratings finished ... hope everyones going to have a relaxing evening x

  • Bonnie LOL, here to lift means collect and if you were going to steal it would be hooding. Don't ask :rotfl:

I've spent abit of time in my bedroom, bed has been stripped and remade, wardrobe cleared out except for top bit plus one bin bag of rubbish collected so far.. Ohh hall has been hoovered too.

Kids all playing, DS3 being a mighty pain today so he'll be in bed early (late night for him last night). Washing nearly all finished now.

DW just finished so i'll get that load put away and make a start on dinner. Then kids bathed and bedrooms tidied. :D

    Valli's advice is excellent! :T
    oo ta! *blush*

Beautifully clean bathroom lasted an hour til DD2 turned up filthy and soaked to the skin, with 2 filthy friends who all wanted to get cleaned up before going on to a party :mad::mad: not a happy bunny

But I bet they were VERY impressed by how clean it was...:rotfl:

I have been a VERY VERY BUSY Valli!

In keeping with my sig (the make two bit) I have boiled the HUGEST pan of potatoes (3 kilos plus a stray spud) having first diverted about 6 little ones to be roasted. The mash has been eaten (3 portions) gone on top os two cottage pies (2 x 2 portions,. probably) and 3 portions to go in the fridge, when dcool, for tomorrows tea. I cooked the mince, carrots and onions for the bottom of the cottage pies, they've been buile and will be refrigerated when cooler and will go in the freezer when cold. I've also prepped carrots for tomorrows tea - SC pork, carrots, leeks, celery and paprika, probably, as the last parental visit to Budapest resulted in a massive bag of it for my kitchen :rotfl:
I made dumplings in the processor, wiped it out the used it to make the Yorkshire batter (genius planning - didn't need to wash it twice) and they will go on the SC meal tomorrow. Half have been frozen for 'next time'. So, that's today dinner, tomorrow's half sorted and two 'in the bank'!
Been to Morrisons and filled car with 4p-a-litre-cheaper petrol as I had a voucher from buying i tunes - and THEY were £40 for £50 worth!

(Incidentally, if you ever visit Spain saffron is cheaper there than here - look for Azafran;))

I have a lambswool duster-onna-stick, and use ordinary soap and water, the same stuff I use to wash my paws in! The duster-onna-stick was here when I moved in with Mr LW, and he's just told me it's actually 22 years old; he bought it when he moved here in 1990. It's still going strong, so my method of washing it must be ok.
