Well, after another spend to get snacks in for NYE, my grocery spend is £20 over! Oh well!
But hey, since I started the challenge in September, I'd come in under budget every month. So I shall climb back on the wagon for January!
Strange offer on crisps in Sainsburys today...
18 packets of quavers for £3.50
or:
24 packets of quavers for £2.70...
All depending on whether you bought multipacks in 6s or 12s! I can't believe people are stupid enough not to either: a) not notice, or b) are too thick to do the maths.
But I see slight variations on this weirdness quite often on Quavers (in tesco as well), so obviously people are that stupid!Because it's fun to have money!

Hello all!
I was a bit naughty and succumbed to a £4 jar of Jerk spice in Borough Market yesterday.
On the positive side my housemates mum is staying over so she insisted on buying the veg I needed to make a beef and red wine casserole this evening.
Have been looking at lots of recipes for January when my housemates diet starts - I know I like Quorn chicken pieces which are cholestral free which is good. I HATE Quorn mince, and can cope with Linda McCartney or Quorn sausages. Not sure about tofu but will buy a pack to marinate to see what I think.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

I think we are over budget a bit already AND still one more weekly shop to go!
We have £17 left in the joint account until 1st Jan so hoping to scrape in under that tomorrow as we don't need much and then start fresh in Jan!
WELL DONE to all those coming under budget for December - impressive!0 -
I'm heading off to the January thread as I've totally lost the plot - again
I'm fairly sure I've kept somewhere near my budget, but as I haven't written the totals down each week, I'm giving up for this month
Those looking for GF recipes - you can make a crustless quiche - just the same as regular quiche, but without the pastry. Lightly oil a glass pie dish first, then pour the eggy mixture and whatever else you're using, and cook just the same as you would a normal one. It's a bit like a Spanish omelette, but it wowrks.2025 Fashion on the ration

This is my first update for December! My month runs from the 1st to 31st. At the beginning of December I felt like I was constantly spending on groceries and I misplaced the receipts and I had know idea of how much we spent. Friday night I discovered the receipts and tallied up our spends £450 + £50 (butchers) + £30 (festival) = £530 this also includes money spent on food gifts and ingredients for making gifts, I couldn't be bothered to work out how much was spent on gifts as we are £90 under budget.
Think I need to go and buy milk tomorrow so I will allow myself £10 for the weeks milk plus anything else we might need.
Very pleased with our spends for December, I know £620 is a very high budget but this does include ALL food, drink, alcohol, toiletries, cleaning materials, household, OTC medicines & prescriptions.
Declaring £540/£620Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I didn't actually set a target for this month, and haven't really been keeping too close a watch on what I've been spending, but I've just added up my receipts and am pleased to say that we've spent a total of £140.05 on our usual groceries (so only £10.05 more than I usually aim for) and, out of the £150 budget that I set for Christmas food and drinks, we've spent only £114.07.
A couple of days before Christmas OH came home from work with a pack of sprouts and a pack of carrots, which had been reduced from £1 per pack to 10p per pack! It's a pity he didn't get the sprouts before I bought some, but the ones I bought were only 39p from A1d1 so not too bad, and the ones we didn't use at Christmas are now in the freezer.
Only going out tomorrow to collect my dad, and bring him to our house for New Year's eve, so the only spending I should be doing is on petrol, and I have £2.50 in Mr T vouchers to put towards that, as they go out of date tomorrow and I don't want to waste them.
Happy New Year everyone, see you on the January thread!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
