  • Been absent for a while and got caught up in life. Didn't track the last few spends but know I went over, just don't know by how much. Looking forward to getting back on track with Jan's budget which for me starts today!

We've been sat at the table with an unusual problem, too much turkey. I had to recook it as I messed up the timings - followed a recipe and used the free meat thermometer which came with the turkey crown but the middle and wings were bloody :( Because we had to re roast it we can't reheat it again so can't make curry etc and it has to be eaten within 3-5 days. Such a shame and a waste of money, bought the smallest one as well. Not sure what we will do next year. Anyway hope everyone had a lovely Christmas :)

  • I've not been great at tracking my spends the last couple of weeks but just totted up from my bank account and I'm so far sitting at £175.18/£200 (and have about £10 left in my purse). I have a bunch of food leftover from Xmas so hoping that I can stick within budget until next Monday!! Pretty pleased I've stayed in budget given that it's December!
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

Way over budget for December! I spent £183.96, against a budget of £140! At least I know how much extra to set aside next year for Christmas - I had no idea what to allow this year, so I've learnt something from it. We buy our turkey direct from a farm, and it cost £52 this year, so I even know exactly where the overspend was!

I'm going to see if I can claw the overspend back over the beginning of 2013, so I'm going to be on a tighter budget for J, F, M, A and a bit of May. Should be an interesting.
    Better is good enough.
  • I just thought I'd post quickly to say thanks to all who run and contribute to the GC thread. I have been doing GC all year though haven't posted in recent months. I have just gone through my yearly totals and out of my December £100 budget I spent £78.20. Out of interest, my yearly budget was £1440, and I came in at £1112.66 - £327.34 underspend :T

So, I plan to keep on GC'ing in 2013 and have already joined the Jan2013 thread. See you all over there :D

  • Been reading but not posting.

Daren't declare my Dec total as I've lost track but am fairly sure I'm way over budget.:( Oh well, January is a fresh start so will concentrate on making sure that I come in under budget then.

I have just bought my Christmas Cards for next year though, half price at Mr T.......:rotfl:

Thank you everyone for the support with me going for the changes my housemate needs to do. I will be like a New Year diet for me in a way I guess :rotfl:

MrsCD - very useful websites there - will be making use of some recipes on here for sure :D

Had a lovely Xmas break - I hope that everyone else did as well. Spent a whopping 18p on a RTC sandwich for lunch in Mr T on the way home on Xmas eve. There were loads of stupid discounts in the Mr T metro near Kings Cross but I couldn't get any because I was travelling back to my parents.

Had to be up at 6am this morning to get the bus/train back from Lincolnshire to London, then go straight to work. Due to this I spent £1.96 (would be £2.45 but I used my Bite card), on a coffee from the train station because my parents only have decaff. Not particulary useful when trying to wake up! :D

I did have a pack up made for me though (ie turkey sandwiches), so saved on lunch costs at least.

    Will update signature

We have come in well under budget this month. I have spent £139 out of £350 budget.
This is mainly because DH has been signed off work for three weeks and as he is self employed we have had no extra income.

I think that my budget for January will have to be £150 for four adults for all groceries.
