Well finally did my first shop of the month! spent £39.20, not bad but still need to stock up on meat at the farm shop hopefully will manage to get that done and out of the way by the weekend!!
Was all excited for christmas about a week ago, seems to be fading fast...must be something to do with the assignment deadline! :-( Hopefully it will be back before i know it!
Everyone seems to be doing great, thanks for all the comments on meal planning & buying a slow cooker..thats my next two goals, living by myself and having 3 jobs think they will make my life alot easier!! xxDebt free since July 2013 - Saving for a rainy day ☔️☔️☀️☀️0 -
Spent £8.39, not much left for Christmas food. Was going to do duck for Christmas, DH said he wanted goose and then changed his mind to turkey. Either way, a lot more than duck for a tenner. Hmmm...will have to have a think about what to do!Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0

Bluegreen143 wrote: »No problem - I make it all the time, and it is also one of those soups you can easily vary quantities of and don't really need to measure.
I generally use:
1 onion
5 large carrots or more little ones
1/2 cup to a cup red lentils
Thumb sized piece of ginger or more to taste!
Vegetable stock to cover
Dash of soy sauce
I grate the carrots, onions and ginger in the food processor, which you can do by hand but is obviously more time consuming. Then gently fry in a little vegetable oil for a few minutes. Cover generously with vegetable stock and pour in the lentils (half a cup will be more carroty, which I prefer, a full cupful is a bit more lentily, but either way is good). Cook for 20 minutes until the red lentils are tender and all mushed up. Add a good dash of soy sauce to taste.
I find I get four decent lunch portions if made as described above, five if I've added more lentils. It is really tasty and you can really change any of the quantities!
Thank-you! This will be perfect for lunches next week, my co-workers will hate me, but the ginger will be lovely and seasonal (and ward off any colds from my neighbours!)0 -

Morning, have just updated my sig which I've been meaning to do since Friday  some of it was house stuff and not groceries, but I'll count it all. My month re-starts next Monday, so should come well under. Although we are getting low on milk and fridgey bits so might pop out later.
I have started a tesco slot for next Wednesday (free delivery coupon) but that will come out of next month...Bossymoo

As a side issue, does anyone use a mooncup and would you recommend? As I couldn't help thinking if I had one I would have saved a quid from my grocery budget! :rotfl:
OH making some arrabiata sauce which we will have with pasta and a side salad, yum but I'm so hungry waiting for it!
Hi, I did have a mooncup and can highly recommend them, I stopped using it as I got lazy and threw it out mid month as I thought I can't be bothered any more. I shall be re-investing in one once I have got through the supplies I currently have!!0
