Aww Angela I'm sure you will be a great help to that family. I had my mum stay with us for a few months when we lost my dh and it was such a help I can't tell you. Even though I had some time off work, I was useless and never noticed the time, so she made sure the meals and washing was done for the kiddies.
Just remember you need help sometimes too.

Going to get my first shop of the month today... Not sure if anyone remembers from Nov thread but my fridge freezer is still on the blink so can't buy any frozen stufff or get my frozen food back from my mums house yet :( We are defrosting it today in case that helps. On weds night we pulled it out and hoovered it all, OH took some bits off and hoovered inside and it was working from then until about 2am this morning when it started beeping again..... I know nothing about fixing stuff but OH is going to replace the capacitators (?) when he's ordered some. Really hope to god we can fix it permanently, I don't want to have to buy a new one at the mo :(
I should probably note that I do realise this is a fairly small problem compared with some peoples :o

A family friend had trouble with his freezer and replaced the capacitators and it works a treat now so good luck with that! Certainly worth a try as I think it is a reasonably priced part.Took DS to work for half 8 and hoped Iceland would be open on same journey but unfortunately not until 9 am. Seems funnny being home on a Satuday now my job has ended.
Well Ive put on the breadmaker and made a shopping list. Made breakfast pancakes and prob going to make butternut squash tart-well Ive done the pastry! Don't be surprised if it turns into quiche or something tho-all depends on prices in the shops!:rotfl:

Well the new budget was meant to start tomorrow, but I remembered it was St Andrews day today, and went to buy some Haggis and Whiskey to mark the occasion (we don't typically celebrate St Andrew's in Scotland, but as I now live in England, I thought I should mark the occasion!). Total spends = £16.20, as I bought a bottle of wine, and some yellow labels while there. I will round that down to £10 though, as I don't think I should include spirits in my grocery spends. A half bottle will last a year for me! Still have to go buy breakfast and lunch food for next week, but have to keep costs below £10, so that will be a good challenge!

As it was SIL's b'day yesterday DSs bought a half bottle and all the men had a wee dram of whiskey last night. They all slept like logs. We have always celebrated St Andrew's with a haggis and neeps too. But curry last night as specially requested by the b'day boy :D
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Our meal plan for this week is freezer based for most things -

Sat - chicken curry with rice and butternut squash accompaniment (needs using!) this was supposed to be Fri but early night instead so just jad JPs with grated cheese instead
Sun - roast something (whatever is reasonable, when I go shopping)
Mon - Sausage mash, carrots and cabbage
    Tue - Meatballs and pasta
Wed - Pork chops and fridge veg
Thur - DH out so I will have the lonely steak that was lurking with whatever veg is left (might have oven chips too)
Fri - out for DH's Xmas works do

I need broccoli, carrots, and the roast meat for this lot - the rest is in. Then it's just dairy, fruit and a few store cupboard items (oats, rice pudding, maybe a jar of pasta sauce for CBA nights) - feeling positive.

    Off to shop next

The guys on whitegoods.co.uk are really helpful for diagnosing things like this and when I checked out the competition they were really competetive for the spare part I needed. I checked out who was offering advice and he was a trade guy with a five star reputation which was good. Not sure how good at this stuff your OH is but there are "how to" guides with photos. Don't lose heart, there's not that much that can go wrong in a freezer!

Hope it goes well for you

Just a thought but can you try and console yourself that if you have gone into the store you would, maybe, have been tempted
to buy those little extras that come to more than £5. and isn't it nice to stay in the warm and let the delivery driver carry it all for you :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
