Once again many many thanks for all who have posted on here, your thoughts and suggestions, kind wishes and personal experiences etc. have been a great help at this difficult time. Our little friend went peacefully just about 5 o'clock. We were all with her and it was very moving and serene.. The vet was very kind and discreet, she usually got upset going to vets, but walked straight over to him when he came in, no nervousness at all, and stood beside us as he sedated her, she was so calm. I truly believe she knew it was her time, and came to each of us at some stage of the day, when we alone in a room. eg getting a drink in the kitchen, just coming out of loo, sitting when no one else was in the room.,and stood against us licking us. I was alone ironing this morning, and she walked over and just leaned against my leg looking up at me. I sat down and she climbed up and snuggled in beside me. Gave a big sigh and licked me and nudged me. I said my good bye then. We all wept when the deed was done, and when the vet left, all bawled our eyes out. Then we had take away for tea and sat laughing and reminicsing about her. How she used to pull everyones socks off when she first came, how she always sat in front of the cooker on Sundays waiting for her dinner. Lots of lovely memories and pictures. I think we shall wait and see what happens now, I like to think she will guide us to another wee dog in need somewhere in the future. Thank you all. x

  • I got a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes reading this thread. I'm so sorry for your loss.

No one could ever replace the dog you had just give you new memories of a new dog. The old one will always have a special place in your heart.

RIP Little dog may you run free at rainbow bridge

    Massive hugs

So sorry for your loss, but she is pain free now.
    RIP little one

Totally agree with meritaten, if my animals that have passed aren't there to greet me, I don't want to go either!!
