Presents You'd Rather NOT Receive?!

  • 40 year old female.

Whilst I love Christmas and giving gifts, I find it increasingly hard to receive them and delay doing so until as late as possible on Christmas day. I just don't use most things people buy me and feel incredibly guilty about it.

No to most toiletries, make up, clothes, hand bags, purses and household "stuff". Absolutely no to spa/beauty treatments which several people have very kindly bought for me over the past few years.

Yes to chocolate, magazines, coffee, pjs, any voucher/gift card, diamonds and most plain silver jewellery (that no-one buys me!) Yes to B&Q voucher, cinema token, home cooked meal and babysitting offers.

Consummables are my desired gifts. Homemade are always appreciated. Recycled, free/low cost and thoughtful/special presents are particularly loved.
  • I'm weird. I'm 22 female and don't like presents! I am bit of a control freak and hate surprises. I just don't see the point with receiving gifts that I won't use and then feel bad about it.

I can't think of a single thing I want this year. I just need the basics and I'm happy.

    Sums up how I feel.

A stocking full of Ferrero Rocher & Galaxy chocolate will keep me very happy.

At last!!! Someone else who thinks Lush stuff stinks!!!!!!:j

Another one here, I walk past a Lush shop every morning and you can smell it on the street even when the doors are locked shut, I can't bear it, sorry, no offence to anyone who loves it.
  • I could have done without the out of date box of jaffa cakes from my husbands great aunt and and the "frog on a swing" ornament from my great uncle, but he was sooo excited about giving me the frog, he spent all morning saying, "I've got you something that I just know you are going to love", it was very sweet of him.

My mum also can't resist doing a HUGE bag of presents for us both despite us telling her every year not to and last year we had a fridge pack of baked beans???, sticky stuff remover and grape-cutting scissors to name a few.

I know it sounds ungrateful but I would rather open one present that I would really like, Melt candle, Molton Brown, Clarins products (Yes I know they are expensive), than 20 things that I don't need or want that add up to the same or more, but some people thing quantity works over quality.

    BTW I Love Christmas.

I don't want anything with cheese in since someone wrapped up a port and stilton gift set and left it under the tree (which was next to the radiator) overnight!

Oh no! My parents always get me a cheeseboard but they put it in the fridge! :rotfl:(It's more of a communal gift than just for me though.)
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.
