    Not all, certainly, but some.

but just because they are vulnerable and gullible, probably on a fairly low income and often from the lower orders of society, does not mean giant tax avoiding companies like boots should be allowed to ride rough shod over them

boots should be forced to use some of the 100 million pounds they save from being based in switzerland to send each and every competition winner on that holiday

    I think you're being a tad dramatic!!!!!

Boots (or a company on their behalf) made a mistake and have offered all entrants £10 as a gesture of goodwill.....they didn't have to do that.

It's an unfortunate error and people will have been disappointed that they are not going on a holiday but lets face it it's nobody has been injured, harmed or killed.

The referee at a football match of the team I support allowed an offside goal last week. If he hadn't my team would have won and I'd have claimed over £150 in winnings from the bookies.

Should I email the FA telling them that because of this mistake by the ref I am now suffering from PTSD? :rotfl:

I also do not have any sympathy for Boot's really, but I do for the PERSON who may lose their job because of a mistake and because you have people going totally ott in their reaction to this.

I'd say they would be much more likely to suffer PTSD than anyone entering the comp.

Whoever won, good luck to them...the rest of you enjoy your £10 compo, dust yourself off and carry on.
If you can't do that then seek medical advice immediately and deal with what must be some serious underlying issues.
  • I do apologise, it was me who brought up war and rape but for the simple reason to highlight a scenario of when someone could suffer PTSD, not when they do not win a competition.
The best things in life are free.....
  • It's not really though, is it? They give you a virtual £10 and you take £10 of goods from their store? If 9K entered then they are still 90K worth of goods down.:D

I do not see it that way .They sell gods to make a profit so they wont actually loose 90k and many people will spend more thna £10 points worth of points on impulse purchases and itmes over £10. Also this is very cheap advertising .yes mistakes do happen and this may have been a genuine mistake but I know how the world works and this truly may not have been a mistake and if it has been it certainly wont be costing them 90k . the cynic in me tells me they will make out of it .

I'm sorry to hear that many of you were told you had won the trip. However claiming you should get compensation is the most stupidest think I've read.
Those saying they should get compensation can you tell me why? It's not like you have had to pay money out for the holiday. You've not been told the trip is tomorrow and you've had to go unpaid from work.

A human error that is all it was. We live in a world now where if somebody falls in a supermarket the first thin they think is not "I hope nobody saw me, I feel so embarrassed but " oh I've tripped I wonder if I can claim compensation"

I just wonder how many of you who think they should be rewarded for your grief would be up in arms if you'd received an email saying you'd one a £2.00 tea towel?

Cor blimey. It's actually pretty sad to see how this thread has degenerated into name-calling, insulting sexist comments and greed.

Yes, it was exciting to think you're a winner, then disappointing to be told you're not, but it's really not the end of the world. You didn't pay anything to enter, it took probably less than a minute of your entire life and you haven't actually lost anything.

People need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. With everything that's going on in the world, is this really such a big deal? Yes, it's very disappointing, and I'm sure everyone in Britain would love a free holiday, but let's just get a grip now. You didn't have a holiday before the email and you don't have one now. Instead of carrying this on, spend the time to go enter all the holiday comps left on here, surely that is a much more productive way to spend time? Good luck to everyone with future comps, and remember, mistakes happen. We are only human.
  • Can i just add to the mix, i received an original "apology" email and was very grateful for the added funds to my advantage card, especially as i hadnt noticed the wem anyway... however... this morning ive also received another wem lol... ???
