I have an update on the post above.

I have called the CPP compensation scheme and spoke to a very helpful lady. She confirmed that the scheme only pays from 14th Jan 2005.

My policy started in 2001 and she confirmed she can raise a complaint to CPP direct for me to ask for compensation from the start of the policy. My thinking is that as I was mis-sold in 2001 not 2005, I should be compensated from the point of mis-selling not from when the scheme pays compensation from.

I will update when I hear from CPP.:)

Also she confirmed that paying in the cheque now doesn't hinder my claim for the additional 4 years from CPP direct.:T
  • Don't expect much success with CPP, they may pay you back a further year for the period 7th January 2004 but nothing before that, as that is apparently when they were first regulated. I claimed from them directly & succeeded in getting £310 for the period 2004-2012 but will have to go to the Ombudsman for anything before that date. Just had a letter to this effect from CPP today.

  • I was wondering if there is anybody that can point me in the right direction with regards to a cpp policy I took out when I first activated my virgin credit card. I have been reading this thread for a while now but am lost as to which direction to turn! I have contacted CPP with my policy details for an identity protection policy which was first activated in 2008 and have been informed by them that the policy was activated by virgin when i took out a credit card with them at the time. Ive also contacted virgin but they said they do not deal with these claims. I was pressured into taking the policy as identity theft was heavily exagerated at the time but I cant remember whether I was passed through to a cpp representative to take the policy or if the virgin representative activated it for me and set up a direct debit from my credit card for the annual policy which was in force for over 3 years. Does anybody know who I can call as CPP is saying its not them and I'm not getting anywhere with virgin money (mbna) :(
  • You should have received a letter about the redress scheme earlier this year...?

I can't post a web link as I'm a newbie but search online for:

    " cppredressscheme " (its a .co.uk website...)

Hi all, I've filled in the paperwork for a claim and have two reply envelopes..one saying

"Policy Review Team, Holgate, York, YO24 4ZF"

    and one saying

"Customer Services Manager, Holgate, York, YO24 4ZF"

The address is the said, just directed to a different team. Anyone know which one it should go to?
  • CPP initially refused my application for a refund - saying they didn't sell me the policy (they did actually, and I had the evidence but they refused to see it). So I put in a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman - it's been with them for over a YEAR! When I ask for an update they just say my complaint is in the queue. It's very much 'how long is a piece of string'. I've given up ever getting a reply from the FO - their response time is a bloody joke.
