How do i put in a claim for mis-selling if CPP say that my policy was started through MBNA? I can't find any info about claiming from them.
  • I took out a policy with the above company under the belief that I needed it to cover me for identity fraud as my card company didn't cover me. Have since been told this is untrue and barclays would have covered me.

    Could I have a claim.

Phone MBNA and say you want to claim for being mis-sold the policy I had to do the same with HSBC as when I phoned CPP they said my policy was sold through HSBC so would have to claim through the company that sold it

Only way to tell is to phone CPP and say you want claim for bein mis-sold the policy. CPP have said they will be in touch with all customers that they feel are affected but it didn't give a timescale
  • I have also been told by CPP that my card protection was linked to a bank (Citibank.)
I have contacted them and at first they said their credit card business has been sold to Opus and I should contact them.
I said I did not have a credit card as this policy was linked to cards not necessarily credit cards and that my claim is with them.
I am still waiting to hear back

I don't believe so. They provided a service for ALL cards you had (also keys!), so a claim and could argue that their service was necessary because you agreed to join it. It was never forced on folk, just recommended. True, marketing that it protected you from fraud was often touted, but the reality was this was limited only to cancelling all your cards immediately. If the money had been taken from your account, then your card issuer made te refund, not CPP.

Received a letter from HSBC today saying they are still looking into my claim which was now been with them for 8 weeks and they said I should receive an update within the next 4 weeks and yet hope that the issue is resolved as they need o go through more information at their end
  • I had the problem, cpp referred me to Opus, who then referred me to Citibank who I then realised had bought 'Peoples Bank' whom I had the initial policy with. Citibank acknowledged my complaint and then four weeks later as promised updated me to say they needed another four weeks. Yesterday their final decision was sent, saying that I had ever even had a CPP policy despite me having proof from 1999 to Feb 2013. Have now packaged all copies of every letter and sent to FOS who gave me the reference by pfone...so here we go again.

  • After pursuing a complaint for a card protection policy I had from 1992 to 2006, CPP finally wrote to say that as they were only regulated by the FSA from Jan 2005 and the policy lapsed in 2006, then they would not uphold my complaint. They claim that my last payment was made in 2003 but I paid annual premiums through to 2005!

Has this response been used to other customers seeking redress?

I dont have any bank statements from 2005 so a I stuffed?
