Somebody please tell me I'm not going insane (more than usual). There was an 'apply' button on the site, wasn't there? Which has now vanished

No, it's still there.
I think it doesn't show on jobs where contact info shown (email addy for example) - but don't quote me on that0 -
Ah, I'm seeing it on some jobs now, but it's still missing on others, even when there's no contact info. Hmm...

The apply button, is programed to disappear when the number of applications reaches the number set by the employer. Otherwise the employer would be looking through hundreds of CV's. Most of which would be left unread.0

A lot of people are confused about this site; what to do, how to do it;
The DSS "SAYS" that it is MANDATORY to sign onto this site, when you visit the office, but for them, this is not true.
If you have to sign up to anything mandatory, you need to sign a form, and the dole signing on form isn't it.
So tell them to stuff it!
It isn't mandatory in law, the site is full of faults, so log on (never to be released - I've tried it!), look at the job; hmm, I like the look of that, check out the email address, then copy paste that for the company details are listed in their email 2nd listing ie Ratty@moneysaving.hotmail.com; take their company name, sorry Money, I know you sold out Lewis, and do the websearch for the company actually from the source. All GG is is Monster Jobs, purporting to be an Agency.
Technology once again shoots itself in the foot; In ye olden times, back in the '80's, you could walk past a job centre; see a job you fancied, take the card down, and get the job; now it's online, millions see that job. When you take that card down, nobody else applies.0 -
Its full of fake jobs, scams, loads of search engine results which are not actually live0

I'm only bothering to look at the jobs posted by actual companies, and there are very few of them for my sector (software) although there are 'thousands' of "job warehouse" vacancies -- sometimes the same job through multiple agencies!
Wonder how all this is reflected in the statistics?0 -
I would personally reject any involvement with Universal Jobmatch or to use it in as minimally detailed method as possible.
Read the Terms & Conditions
5. Disclaimer
5.1 While we make every effort to keep the Universal Jobmatch website up to date, we don’t provide any guarantees, conditions or warranties as to the accuracy of the information on the site.
5.2 We don’t accept liability for loss or damage incurred by users of the website, whether direct, indirect or consequential, whether caused by tort, breach of contract or otherwise. This includes loss of:
- income or revenue
- business
- profits or contracts
- anticipated savings
- data
- goodwill
- tangible property
or wasted management or office time in connection with our site or in connection with the use, inability to use, or results of the use of our site, any websites linked to it and any materials posted on it. This condition shall not prevent claims for loss of or damage to your tangible property or any other claims for direct financial loss that are not excluded by any of the categories set out above.
5.3 This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, nor our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or misrepresentation as to a fundamental matter, nor any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Mandation of this service is essentially coercion to accept avoidable loss/damage. I'd advise every jobseeker to meet and exceed their agreements by providing demonstrable jobsearch activity on quality services.0 -

It isn't compulsary to sign on to the GG website, even thought they tell you it is; as you need to sign a letter to confirm you to it. You are entitled to refuse the above terms and conditions, but still with logging on, they violate your computer, when you disengage from the site, and still send spam, even after blocking their website, and email address.
The letter signed, must be passed by Government, and at present doesnt exist; so whatever the DSS tell you that the GG website is mandatory, whatever the T&C's, isn't.0
