So much chat about the UJM but I have not been told about it at the JC or the WP. In fact no one has mentioned it to me at all.

What you did is point me to a web page that has an article and 484 comments and I'm presumably supposed to find my answer somewhere amongst that lot. That's called being a !!!!!! Thanks a lot!0 -
Vincent, I'm sorry that I didn't make my point correctly; if I can't sort it then the person on the street cannot.
I was told to log into this system (not told by DSS that it is going to be mandatory any time soon - my neighbour, who is a friend, often signs me on, and has confirmed this as nonsense);
But after logging on, I had problems with spam emails (CV not posted), computer errors, and computer crashing.
So I unsubscribed from the site, using a powertool to remove the stuff, rather than Windows ccleaner I think it was. I then still receive emails from that site every 2 weeks at something like 1am. I emailed the owners of the site, to stop sending emails x3, but they still arrive. I've blocked their email address in outlook, but they still come thru as Junk.
If the email system cannot be blocked, then what other spyware has been installed, that no current system can detect? We are talking about the Government remember?
Most of the problem regarding this system, even before personal tracking, is that the format of the jobs is corrupt. You cannot get basic information, like Wages, Hours, Company details unless logged in, which compromises your details, so you have extra work, read the email address, research the company, maybe send a cheeky email to their contact us, so you can get a feel of the company; rather than going in blind, and having your computer hijacked, by a random job generator that sends you spam?
Even the Jobpoints don't contain the information required.
I got a bolt out of the blue today; and maybe an offer of a job, an agency that got me a previous job, rang me up, after a few years, they still have me on their database, but the thing is, they work last minute; last times I was told on Friday to take a train to London, with an address and a name. Time before that, go to Warwick..get the train..no notice..bit random.
I got both jobs at the time.
But this isn't an Agency that takes a cut of your wage, and sends you to wherever adhoc, so I don't know how they make their money? They specialise in my industry??0 -
They need to stop allowing adverts that are listed as company confidential. To me that says you've got something to hide if you're not prepared to say who I'm working for or what agency I'll be dealing with.
I wouldn't give my details to somebody in the street I don't know so why am I expected to give them on UJ to someone who won't reveal who they are?
It would also help if they forced the people listing jobs to put a more accurate location down even if it's just a postcode. I applied for a job that says you must have a car due to location yet it turns out it's a 30 min walk from my house so a car isn't essential at all. I wonder how many people have not applied for suitable jobs because they're told they need a car when they don't?0 -
Totally agree about the location issue. I can only drive a limited distance due to a health condition and was excited when I saw a job that said it was in Congleton, which is only 20 mins away. Click on it and the actual description says its in Southport - why?0

Andy2004, I got the exact same email/PDF yesterday, which is a bit late seeing as I'd emailed my problem on the 1st Feb. I managed to get back into my account, don't have a clue what was wrong with it.
Has anybody made their CV public, btw? I keep on being pressurised to do so but I'm really not keen on the idea given the poor security of the web site. The staff mentioned something about their 'magic' scanners being able to scan through my CV and match me with my ideal job?0 -

I've had mine public since October and it hasn't made a bit of difference. Could just be my CV though.Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.0 -
Another question (of many) - has anybody ever requested feedback after applying for jobs on JM? It seems a bit pointless if jobs you applied for in December still only say Received, and not Viewed.0
