The thing is if you and I wanted to peek in other people's CV we can. There is nobody stopping it. Read the article I posted above. If you happened to know someone's email address....you can find out if they are on it or not.

I know the Jobcentre staff can check this but how would anyone else do it because even if they had someone else's email address they would not have access to the Jobcentre's system?

In order to limit your personal information being abused at UJ site by spammers, I suggest you enter not your mobile phone number but use a free voicemail number. There are many based in the US. A contact number IS a contact number.
If someone leaves a voicemail, you'll receive an email with a link to download the sound file.

The problem that people seem to be missing is not the 'No notification to DSS', but the T&C of the website, ie smallprint, that says it WILL plant cookies on your computer, AND monitor website activity, regardless of whatever websites you visit.

This website is designed for all people that receive any benefits to use as a hub, and is being developed, so any social benefits in future need to go through this hub, so effectively, giving everyone an ID status card matched to their logon. ie a National ID card, where the Government can snoop on anyone, rather than issue a National ID card, that is rarely mentioned thesedays.

Gateway is an extremely flawed system, with critial information lacking, ie pay, and company details, those you have to chase through external links, rather than use their site. What a joke!

    Talk about uninventing technology!

Oh, If you want to stop this stuff happening, contact your local MP about it; my local MP said 'Stop bothering me'.

I can understand the petition but you're !!!!ing in the wind really. There's no chance of the government scrapping UJ, the opposition would crucify them and for a start they see nothing wrong with it. Same with the work programme/workfare etc.

I've had the same experience as an earlier person as well where I've sent off about 8/9 CV applications through the site yet only 1 of them is showing as even viewed. The rest just say received.

Just checked mine and out of 15 applications sent only one has been viewed. I didn't even know that the status could change to viewed.
Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.

Not really a problem, just a) begin a new session with your browser when you wish to use UJM and b) delete all cookies when finished.
  • Invited to a 'Business Breakfast' this morning, the subject of the Universal Jobmatch and the problems that companies are having with it, came up . The main items being.
    1/ Login problems
2/ The way that applications are handled on the site, Namely the requirement to login to examine any applications, other sites email the details direct.
3/ Poor format of the Job Centre designed CV's and no cover letters with applications.

It's hardy surprising that companies are posting direct links on the Job ad's
