Unless you have specific, sought after specialist skills or experience then a public CV is pointless. No company in their right mind is going to sift through thousands of online CV's to hire an admin worker or retail assistant etc.

Unfortunately if the job centre demand you make it public you will probably have to comply. The DWP refuse to even acknowledge the issues that people have so I'd be very pessimistic about appealing a sanction claim for not putting my CV public with the security/privacy issue as my defence.

    From the UJ toolkit:

"95. You cannot issue a Jobseeker’s Direction to either require a claimant to create a profile and CV in Universal Jobmatch or to mandate a claimant to give us access to their account – this is their
    decision not ours."

This is the old toolkit though and the new one isn't available yet so it could change.

They need to stop allowing adverts that are listed as company confidential. To me that says you've got something to hide if you're not prepared to say who I'm working for or what agency I'll be dealing with.

I wouldn't give my details to somebody in the street I don't know so why am I expected to give them on UJ to someone who won't reveal who they are?

It would also help if they forced the people listing jobs to put a more accurate location down even if it's just a postcode. I applied for a job that says you must have a car due to location yet it turns out it's a 30 min walk from my house so a car isn't essential at all. I wonder how many people have not applied for suitable jobs because they're told they need a car when they don't?
I agree with you strongly but that's always been the case even before UJ. I mean if I searched other jobsearch sites, the agency will not tell you even if you ring up....unless of course you have been selected to go for an interview, that's the only time you are told. The agency will always say it's something to do with compeition BS.

If I were in a situation where I had to upload my CV, I am tempted to say I'd upload my CV with very little information even to the point that noting previous employers' names withheld for privacy, given upon request....or something rather. Nobody isn't going to check it as long as it's uploaded, are they? Not many people are even viewing it by the sound of it.

This is not the same thing as an agency at all. IF the adverts are from agencies then they should say just that and we all know then the agency will not tell you who the company is. This is a site allowing nonymous adverts and the cv etc could be going to a scammer, a company you have already applied to or interview for and you have no idea. Some of these anonymous adverts do not even tell you were the job is just 'London' which coudl be anywhere or even wrong in most cases.

so not mandatory but people can be mandated on an individual basis if an adviser feels they should be. so in other words it is mandatory for everyone.
they cant make you use your home computer. libraries are going to love loads of people who have been mandated turning up and then kicking off when there isnt a pc available for them. which means they cant fulfill their obligation, which means a sanction for not doing so.

I think you over react here.

If you have no access to a PC all day long you can not be expected to get on one and search for jobs

At my library you have to pay something like £12 to join and then its only 30 mins at a time and I have seen the people waiting to use the pc's there. You can buy extra time at £1 per hour.

Maybe the JC are going to pay for all these people to use the library

in the link it states they cant mandate people to use their own pc due to the cookies issue. so those who are mandated will be expected to use computers elsewhere like libraries. there is nothing in it saying they have to do it all day and i never mentioned anything about all day. however if all the computers are being used you wont be able to fulfill the jobcentres requirements of you.
the cost issue you have may mean you wont be mandated. however a nasty adviser may say just like other job searching costs like bus fares, stamps etc you are expected to fund this also.

So there is no 35 job searching coming in to play as already suggested on many threads on here?
