Don't most websites that require a login, ask for your email if you've lost your password and say on screen that either an email to reset the password has been sent, or that there isn't an account for that email? Surely it's the same thing?

They do but it's a different scenario because in that case it's you who are accessing your own account, which is not the same as the adviser checking up on you using your email address.

Thanks for confirming the process though. Do you know which screen you were looking at when the adviser typed your email in? Was it the normal Jobmatch login page or some other Jobcentre page?

Has anyone else had this happen and can confirm that they only need an email address to check whether you're signed up to jobmatch or not?

I'd like to know because I'm going to send a complaint to the ICO about breach of data protection if this is so.

Ok this is weird today after signing on on Tuesday 26th I get 2 letters from the jobcentre through my door,
quote "Following the recent disallowance of your JSA benefit, please complete this form and send off in enclosed envelope. ASAP"
and attached to this is a form JSA4(RR) 04/11

so i open the 2nd and inside that is another form
JSA4(RR) 10/12 says exactly the same thing on the front the other
    Jobseekers Allowance
Renewal Claim form and notes about hot to claim.
note attached and you'll find this funny.
Please complete the enclosed JSA4RR form
To return it, phone 0845 604 3719 to book an appointment at your local jobcentre.

Are they trying to be FUNNY, I'm banned for 3months from my local jobcentre.
well it couldnt be the time before last tuesday, because i got paid on the 15th. which would have been signing day 13 Feb.

if people are worried about proving they are registered and dont want to give out their email couldnt they just print something out to prove they are registered?
  • When I went to sign on just over a week ago, I had the "are you signed on" check done via e-mail. I was then told I had to give them access to my account "by ticking the two boxes". The word "mandatory" wasn't used, but the wording was carefully chosen to make it seem like it was.

Before doing anything, I did a quick online check to see what info was there about the subject. This led me to a variety of sites all quoting the PCS info from January 17th saying that it isn't mandatory for anyone to give DWP access to their account, and that DWP staff cannot demand access, issue a direction to give access, or sanction anyone if they refuse.

I'm due to sign again next Tuesday, so I'd just like to check if the PCS info is still accurate and you can still refuse them access to your account - That way, if they do try it on again, I can show them that I know they're telling fibs and acting illegally. So, can anyone confirm the current situation, and maybe also point me towards something I can print out and take in with me?

Whats the harm in just telling them your email? They then check, providing its working, and verify your have registered and its all done.

But I could take anyone's email and see if that's registered somewhere by doing the 'forgot password' and seeing if it states that a password has been sent to that email, or says the email isn't known on their system.

It can't have been the normal login screen what I'd login to. It must have been their special access setup as it said 'this user has not given access...' Plus the normal UJM screen asks for the gateway number and password, not email.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

This is the requirements at the moment.

Registering with UJM is not mandatory. You cannot be sanctioned for that.

Giving the DWP access to your account will never be mandatory.

    Is that clear enough.

  • Didn't want to start a new thread!

    UJM...
Seems well dodgy as I've long suspected

Do employers really see your applications? just strikes me as odd that 1 out of serveral jobs applied for in the application history shows as 'viewed' finding out tomorrow as wanna do have you received my CV calls!

Plus there was a national pawn shop advertised a whole load of jobs here in Essex - I kid you not within 2 hours roughly these were all removed!?

There is no contact number for who-ever controls the site so I've resorted to sending message through 'contact us'

I've also been to job interviews when jobs have been advertised as full time to find out it is a 10 hour vacancy :(

The thing is if you and I wanted to peek in other people's CV we can. There is nobody stopping it. Read the article I posted above. If you happened to know someone's email address....you can find out if they are on it or not.

It is to become mandatory so things to do is create an email just for UJ purpose and nothing else. You should receive no spam theoretically and nobody can check if you are on it via email address.
