Ever since this started my advisor has thrown all sorts of jobs at me taht are completely out of my skill set. I have applied for them all as I don't want to upset them but what if I get a call about an interview for one of these advisor recommended jobs? If they call and I tell the job that I am not accepting an interview as it really is not my skillset will I get in trouble with the Jobcentre? I mean I guess they would have to check up on that PARTICULAR job but if they did and they found out taht I had not gone to an interview is taht an immediate sanction and how long would that be?
go to the interview and explain the problem then. or just explain over the phone. dont say i am not right for the job or the jobs not right for me. for example if it requires an nvq in child care simply point you dont have an nvq in child care. they may ask why you applied if you arent qualified. that is when you say you were mandated to apply and apologise.
  • they are not saying you have to apply for every single advertised job are they. there will be minimum per week stipulated.
with computers in libraries you are often limited to 1 hour. they are always very busy. if they require all the unemployed in the area to use them all day there will be a queue down the road. most wont get on one.

You have to apply for any and every job you are able to do that pays minimum wage and is within 90 minutes travel time. There will be a 35 hour job search requirement and you will have to (with proof) search and apply for jobs for that amount of time each week.

The availability of computers will be interesting but they are also supplying "access devices" for some. Should be fun (but not for the job seekers!).

If they do a random check and find you have turned down an interview that would be an automatic sanction.

However, if you get an interview based on your CV surely there's a good chance that the company believes you are a good candidate for the job. That's a good thing isn't it?

Stop talking nonsense, it hasn't started or even been trialled.

It's impossible to prove 35 hours of activity.

Clueless Ian Duncan Smith pushing incompetent DWP & Jobcentres, can say what they want.

What happens in the end & how it really works in real world will be a different matter.

If you read my post #675 I clearly state that it starts trial in April - don't you have the intelligence to read back a few posts?

And whether it's impossible or not is irrelevant because that's the new requirement and somehow that's what is going to have to be done (I don't make the rules; Iain Dunkin Donuts does that).

Someone who has no PC will never be able to do 35 hours job search a week regardless of the amount of jobs they are applying for

Yes, so it hasn't been trialled yet to see how it works in real world.

What they say & what happens are 2 different matters.

IDS is an idiot & is railroading clueless DWP into his crazy ideas.

You cannot monitor & verify 35 hours activity unless you install cameras in people's homes, tag & track them, throwaway privacy laws.

I apply for jobs that are agreed on my JSAg not literally every job I am capable of doing, so I don't do that now. When UC starts that changes to having to apply for literally every job, no matter if it suits you, fits your skill set etc.

That will take more than 35 hours job searching if you are now going to have to read all job adverts that wont even spring to mind as you are not looking for them.

What make someone capable? Experience mostly in this day and age.
