Which is correct the 13wk is a permitted period for certain job role..m after the 13 wks your expected to be more ie if for example you had admin, customer service and cleaning on your jsag but there was a job advertised in retail that fitted your hours and stated in the job description then that no experience was necessary an advisor could submit you to that job. If that makes sense as typing this on my phone0 -
donnajunkie wrote: »some will change things without asking others are willing to put what you want so long as its reasonable. one adviser changed my willing to work hours without asking me. when i saw a different adviser a few months later i asked if i could change it back and they said yes. a good tip with a jsa agreement is to commit to as little as possible. this gives them less ability to sanction. for example you may well do 30 apps a week but as the legal minimum is 3 i would put between 3 and 6. you can limit the hours you are willing to work so dont put that you are willing to work 24hrs a day 7 days a week. put something like 8 hours per day between 8am and 6pm and no hours on a sunday. you may well be willing to work outside of those hours but doing this takes power away from them.
Not technically true the 3 steps a week is just a jcp generalisation legislation states Opening OptionsExpand opening options

This is the original version (as it was originally made). UK Statutory Instruments are not carried in their revised form on this site.
Steps to be taken by persons actively seeking employment
18.—(1)!For the purposes of section 7(1) (actively seeking employment) a person shall be expected to have to take more than one step on one occasion in any week unless taking one step on one occasion is all that it is reasonable for that person to do in that week.0 -
You are supposed to have a "review" every six months, they used to call it a restart. You should have got a new JSAg with stricter requirements on it. The requirements get stricter and stricter as time goes by.
Its every 3 months unless your participating in the work program... however its not usual practice for permitted periods to be put onto 2nd, 3rd jsags etc0 -
its not the wp doing this it is what happens after. it will be a jobcentre adviser. although the wp have already warned me that i have to register on uj.
I'm talking about my JCP adviser.0 -
I did my application online - it didn't ask me to choose or specify which JSA but from what I can gather (from my own research) I will immediately go on to contributions based as I was working up until 31st May 2013? Please feel free to correct me if I am wrongA couple more questions to all you knowledgable folk, if I may:
1) Can someone in laymans terms please explain to me the risks of using Universal Jobmatch from your own laptop - in terms of the cookies?
2) Sorry to be a thicko - I still don't understand how the taking less pay thing works. For example, if I need £21k minimum in order to pay my rent, council tax, utilities, travel to work and purchase groceries (not extravagant!) I assume they cannot force me into a job that pays less than this amount as once I am in a job regardless of pay all benefits will stop? This is my bottom line salary and leaves no money for social/clothes and all the other non-essentials.
(for the time being I will have to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit until I get another job that pays enough for me to exist)
JSA (income based) is heavily means tested, if you have saving or assets you might not even get JSA. The rules are very complicated esp if you have a family.0 -
You have to fight for contribution based JSA, they try to con you out of it, and you really do want it because it is much better for six months.
UJM is surveillance, either you care about being tagged, or you don't, your call.

Thank you for your reply. What I would like to know is what the actual threats are from cookies when using the UJM website. I.e. can cookies monitor each and every website I visit from my own laptop? Or can it only view what I do each time I visit the UJM site and that is the surveillance you speak of? And if an advisor views my web or UJM activity and decides I'm not doing enough/viewing non job seeking websites/not applying for enough jobs I will be sanctioned? I don't understand the whole cookies thing and when I've tried to view other sites without accepting cookies they don't work!
I don't have any savings or assets, nor do I have a family.0 -
Also, I have signed up for temping. How does that work if the work comes in in dribs and drabs? For example, a weeks work, then no work for two weeks, then two weeks work, then nothing for a week, etc etc. Do you have to keep stopping your claim and then starting a new claim for each new temp assignment? Seems like it could get a bit messy...
Anyone know how the jobseekers thing works if you are temping on and off? Thank you0
