Refused access to tesco store - warning

I have been shopping in Tesco for as long as I can remember and have been going to the same store for nearly ten years now.
Today I nipped into the store just to pick up a few things, parked the car and headed to the store entrance. Upon entering the store, a security guard suddenly rushed over from his station and stood in front of me with his arms out. He said he was not going to allow me to enter the store and that I was to leave.
So now I am completely confused as to what is going on. I aked what was happening, but was simply told that I was barred from the store, knew it and must leave. I said he must have the wrong person, but he called some other staff over who effectively surrounded me. He then said if I did not leave, the police would be called and I would be charged with trespass. I asked again what I had done wrong, but all he would say is "you know you're barred, just go". I really had no idea what he was on about.
The whole scenario was so embarassing, I turned to leave the store and as I did the security guard followed behind, pushed me and I fell. I got up and told the guard I would be calling the police and he replied that they would believe him and the store manager over scum like me. I demanded to see the manager htere and then and was told once again, if I did not leave straight away, they would detain me, call the police and have the book thrown at me. I really have no idea what he was on about.
At this point, I had had enough and just very quickly walked out the store with everyone looking. Obviously I am going to complain to Tesco about the incident and I will not be shopping there again, but I really don't know what the best thing to do next would be. Could I press assault charges? Would I be due any compensation for the incident? It really is an awful position. Definitely won't be going back, that's for sure.

If he pushed you and you fell, I would have thought you would have been happy to have the police called. It is assault.
Your story is full of holes I'm afraid.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Phone the police now, if you really were assaulted they can go in and get the CCTV, and do what they have to do.
Why ever would you need compensation?I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -
Next time don't go shopping in a stripey shirt with a mask over your eyes and a carrier bag with 'swag' on the side. Especially if you park in a P&C space without an under 5 in tow.
Seriously I would have done an award winning dive, grabbed my ankle in agony and refused to move until the police and an ambulance arrived, next call injuries for you hotline to see how much the vultures could extract out of Tesco for you assault injury, loss of income, physiotherapy.0 -
this sounds like a familiar story from the past
used to get a regular poster who used to claim the same sort of thing but cannot find ant of the threads at the moment
