New Kitchen - Where to buy?

Hi guys, I’m looking in to buying a new 8 piece kitchen for my open plan kitchen/lounge before Christmas/Early Jan. My budget to buy the kitchen is £1200 (not including work tops, appliances).

So far I’ve had a quote from Homebase which came in at £2500(in the sale) without work tops but with new cooker and hob. £2500 is way too expensive imo.
I have priced up several kitchens with diy-kitchens.com and they come in around £1300 delivered, which is pretty good, but I have to pay extra to specify delivery date, have doors fitted etc.

I have looked at the Wickes take-away range, and I figured I could get everything I need for less than £1000, but I’m unsure of the quality.

Basically I can’t really afford to go more than £1200 as I need to buy appliances, worktop and labour to get it fitted. So wondering if you guys can recommend anywhere either online or in store that I could look at to achieve my goal? It’s taken me a long time to save for this, so want to get it right without going over my budget.

    Many thanks.
Hi, our kitchen was £4,500 all in from a company called Betta Living. The finish is fantastic, the appliances were top of the range and built in, fitting was included too!
They do other ranges on a budget too so have a look at them online :)

I will never go near them again! I contacted them in August 2011 to request a brochure. It took about a month to arrive and meanwhile they rang me on my landline and mobile several times a day for several weeks. I had to make an official complaint to get them off my back. they never left a message and, on the rare occasions that I answered, there was noone to speak to.

Thanks for the info cddc. I'm probably still going to go with Howdens (price dependent of course), was just hoping to be able to get a look at the actual product more than anything else, I'll have to try my luck on a different day!

Do you have any idea about the price ranges? Per a message above I think Glendevon may be out of my price range so I'm now considering the gloss white in Greenwich which I think may be slightly cheaper.

The measuring up appointment is tonight so hopefully the end is in sight :D

    How did the appointment go?
  • Hi samo8076, the visit was fine. The lady was very nice and I've currently gone for Greenwich in gloss white which is pretty new and is apparently a cheaper and similar version of my preferred Glendevon. Hopefully she'll get back to me next week with the plans/drawings and then I'll keep my fingers crossed that the actual quote isn't too horrendous when it eventually arrives!

She advised that if I want to check this stuff out in the shop I'd be best off making an appointment to see her there so that is worth bearing in mind for anyone else reading that might think about dropping in, grab a catalogue then make an appointment instead!

Anyway, feeling a lot more positive about it today so fingers crossed that we are finally getting somewhere. I will keep you updated as things move on and I look forward to hearing about a successful conclusion to your story!
 - Just because I love this emoticon!
