New Kitchen - Where to buy?
Comments
-
it's hard because without doing some serious digging, you don't know really what you are getting (quality wise) for your money.
You would hope higher price means better quality, but in some cases it's not true (not talking about Wickes here, i've never seens a Wickes kitchen and cannot comment!) Do you go for the cheaper option assuming they're all the same, or trust the higher price/better quality logic?
You are right in saying that the price/quality logic does not always follow when talking about kitchens. Homebase are the high street example of this, and there are plenty of drop close sell in the home operations where you are also likely to get a poor deal. In most cases if you avoid sell on the night types and the aforementioned dreaded shed, as the fitters like to call them, you should get pretty much what you pay for, as with most other things in life....
To the OP... 4k fitted is not much of a budget unless it is a small kitchen. You should still have a fair few choices though.. Ikea, Howdens, Benchmarx, B&Q, Wickes and the bottom end of the independants may all be able to do something for you. Get a product and a plan you are happy with and a decent fitter and you could still end up with a great looking kitchen inside that budget.0 -
It is a very small kitchen, but being converted in to a small kitchen if you get what i mean. I only need 8 units, no islands or frills.0

We have looked around everywhere but we are always drawn back to IKEA.
Have already bought the dishwasher and it is great.
Now just have to decide on which units we actually want as there are a couple we really like.
They are doing an offer until end of nov spend £1000 get £100 gift voucher and they have some appliances greatly reduced at the moment.0 -
ah, hope they are not like that with me this Sat otherwise they will get a reply they wont like.
When i was considering a Howdens kitchen, I was allowed to look around and also 'borrow' a laminate sample which was charged to the account of my fitter and then refunded. Magnet Trade allowed me to borrow a sample without charge/deposit and trusted me to return them.0 -
£4000 is more than enough. We got 15 units, sink, granite worktops, splashback and upstands, hotpoint dishwasher, american fridge freexer (samsung) and zanussi 100cm range for just over £5000, maybe £5200.
You are getting half the units, and probably won't want such big appliances.
Ahhh I LOVE kitchen planning!!0 -
I've got Howden's coming out next week and have been browsing their brochure in preparation.
I've got my eye on Glendevon and I was wondering if anyone could let me know which price bracket this might come into, eg top range, mid range or low range.
I also like the look of Greenwich and Saponetta if anyone could also give me an idea on these.
I'm hoping to get to a branch before my visit but this info would be handy up front.
My budget for the whole thing including fitting is (hopefully!) £4000, I'd need around 8-10 units.
Many thanks everyone! - Just because I love this emoticon!0 -
