My vote for best ad so far goes to John Lewis, its different and simple.
Oh and i love the frankie goes to hollywood song cover!
I hate the coke ad, and how most people assiciate it with the start of the festive season, the words, Hook line and sinker spring to mind :wall:
Dont rate asdas or morrisons, both are weak and predictable.
If i have seen Tescos it must be rubbish too, because i can't remember even seeing one yet.SPC ~ 6 ~ MEMBER 18730 -
I also find it quite objectionable that ordinary people are depicted as living in very nice houses with lots of possessions and no money worries. Although maybe that's why dad was not helping out, probably too busy working all hours to pay the mortgage and maxed out credit cards. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I like the Debenhams ad because it is like a fairy story and cannot be imagined as anything remotely resembling real life. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Saw the Morrisons one today, woman comes into the dining room visibly frayed and tired, yet loads of adults sitting round table waiting to be fed. At least they are shown serving themselves and passing dishes round though!0

I've not been that bothered about Christmas since I was a teenager. While I was still living at home, I started cooking the Christmas dinner when I was 17 because my mother's health wasn't up to it one year and it just stuck.
When I lived on my own, my mum would come round for Christmas dinner, usually bemoaning my pitiful attempts to make the place look festive (a pretty rubbish tree with some tinsel was about all I could be bothered to do, and that was largely because of my mum).
When my partner moved in, she wants every Christmas to be a big deal with lots of decorations, lights, festive foods and drinks and the whole shebang... But so far she's always had a convenient excuse to leave it down to me to sort everything out and with her being in NZ and only coming home three days before Christmas for two weeks I'm pretty sure it'll be up to me again.
So I can't say I find that advert true to life... but then I must also say that given how much Red Bull I drink, I am beginning to doubt their claims that it gives me wiiings and therefore, I can't say the Asda ad bothers me.0 -
Things like that just perpetuate outdated views and role perceptions amongst people who just think "it shows things as they are" and "it's just a bit of laugh". Self-fulfilling prophecy.
Plus, it's really naff.0 -

I really liked the short tutorial on wrapping gifts up though, I may go back to this having been lazy and used bags for years.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Have you seen the asda ad where the mum rushes around trying to make xmas perfect and at the end she sits down exhausted and her OH says 'what's for tea love?' Excellent, it has had over 1,000 complaints so far and Asda have said that they are not taking it off even though the complainers say it is not true to life as men play a large part in the pre-organizing of xmas and are very involved with buying presents, family etc.
I reckon it is hilarious and very true:rotfl:
How much is xmas down to us ladies?;)0 -

I'm not a 1950s housewife. My OH does half the chores around the house. I'm certainly not going to run around and do everything at xmas while he puts his feet up.
...but it doesn't sound as bad as the Halford's radio ad which drives me batty everytime I hear it: "Got a flat tyre and your husband won't fix it for you? Don't risk breaking your nails, take it to Halfords and a real man will sort it out." I wish I was joking
I'm so glad I haven't heard that ad, I'd probably have a stroke.I saw that yesterday and it's the creepiest advert I've EVER seen. The snowman is terrifying! And why does he want to keep his girlfriend warm?
I haven't seen that one, but the one I find really creepy is for eggs (or something to do with baking). A sweet little girl is making friends with a box of eggs, giving them all names. Awww, cute. Then she hands a couple over to have their heads bashed in and their insides cooked. And then eats them!!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
